Pre-Registration for New Students Begins 2023-24
If you or a neighbor plan to enroll new students for the 2023-24 school year, pre-registration begins on February 14th. Once parents have completed the online registration form and uploaded the required documents, they will receive a confirmation email. Enrollment isn’t complete until the documentation is reviewed and processed by FISD staff which will start in the spring and continue throughout the summer. Start the process here.

Mystery Reader Program Sign Up
A Mystery Reader program is a guest reader, BUT their identity is kept secret to build anticipation and excitement. Teachers may even choose to give clues before they arrive to get the students extra excited!
FISD Board Policy requires that each volunteer and/or mentor undergo a background check before working with students. You will be prompted to complete the background check during your VOLY account creation process. Keep an eye on your inbox for your background check approval (the process can take up to 3-5 business days). Once approved, you will be able to sign up directly for volunteer opportunities through the VOLY platform. To volunteer at Rogers Elementary, you will need to create a VOLY account by visiting https://friscoisd.voly.org.
Click on the links below to sign up for a time slot during the school day to read-aloud to your child's class.
GMR Visitors Welcome! Must Sign up
We are pleased to open our doors for GMR visitors to attend our assemblies. Please note that there are limited spots available and a sign up is required to attend.
Also please note that GMR is no longer every single Friday.
Please make sure to arrive a few minutes early to present your photo ID and get checked in!
Lunch Visitors - SIGN UP REQUIRED
Lunch visitors have begun on campus and we have enjoyed seeing families have a meal with their students!
Please remember that sign ups are required in order to eat lunch on campus with your student. If the sign up for the grade level is full and a parent comes to eat lunch, unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate you that day. The sign up is linked below for quick access!
As a reminder, we ask that parents visit 1-2 times per month to allow all interested visitors the opportunity to eat lunch with their student. You must bring an ID in order to be granted access to the building.
Finally, we ask that you do not park in the fire lane.

MARCH’S CHARACTER TRAIT GROWTH MINDSET
Link for GROWTH MINDSET Challenge Board
Why does Growth Mindset matter?
Having a growth mindset helps you focus on developing your abilities rather than proving how smart or talented you are. Compared to a fixed mindset, a growth
mindset encourages you to embrace challenges, sustain effort, and try new strategies—and that’s true for both children and adults. Of course, no one embodies only a growth or fixed mindset; we are all a mixture of the two, and we can learn to recognize what triggers a fixed versus growth mindset. Shown evidence that the brain is like a muscle—something you can strengthen—students adopt more of a growth mindset about intelligence and earn higher grades. Finally, the concept of growth mindset doesn’t only apply to intelligence: If there are qualities you don’t like about yourself or others, keep in mind that people can change.
Pulse Check
How often are the following statements true for you?
After I make a mistake, I always look for ways to learn from it.
I love challenges because they make me smarter.
I truly believe that people can change.
I can always change how intelligent I am.
How do I encourage growth mindset in others?
Much remains to be discovered about how parents can encourage a growth mindset in young people, but here are some preliminary suggestions.
Model it. Share stories of when you fell short of your expectations but nevertheless learned an important lesson: “I made the wrong decision that day. At first, I avoided thinking about it, but eventually I realized I needed to learn from the mistake. What I realized was...”
Celebrate it. Avoid praising young people for being “gifted,” “talented,” or “a natural.” Instead, praise the process of learning: “I’m so proud of you—when you got stuck on the problem, you tried a different way to solve it and didn’t give up!”
Enable it. Create authentic opportunities for learning. Give children meaningful challenges, consistent support, and timely, constructive feedback. To calibrate your efforts, ask them directly: “Let’s set a stretch goal together—what’s something
you want to accomplish but can’t do yet? What can I do to help?”

Library Helpers Needed
Our wonderful Rogers librarian, Mrs. Noe, is always looking for volunteers to help with reshelving books, helping students find books, and helping with the check in/check out process at the computer stations. Each volunteer shift is a two hour commitment and just requires a brief training on your first visit.
