May Testing Schedule & Expectations May Testing Schedule & Expectations

End‑of‑Year Exam Schedule Update

As we approach the final stretch of the school year, we want to share important information about our end‑of‑year exam schedule—and highlight some meaningful changes we’ve made to better support our students.

This year, our exam structure will look different. After reflecting on student needs and teacher feedback, we have designed a schedule that gives students more time to learn, more time to prepare, and more support during testing.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • AP Testing will occur during the dates set by College Board at the beginning of May.
  • Statewide Assessments, District End‑of‑Course Exams, and Teacher‑Created Final Exams will all take place in a single testing window:
    May 18 – May 26
  • This adjusted schedule provides students with additional instructional time in their classes before taking their tests.
  • Students will take their exams with their actual classroom teachers, which we believe will help them feel more comfortable and confident. The relationships built over the year matter—and we know students do their best when they feel supported.
  • Students with IEPs who require small‑group or other accommodations will test in accordance with their IEPs.

Attendance Matters—During Testing and Through the Final Days of School

We cannot emphasize enough the importance of strong, consistent attendance—both during the testing window and throughout the last three days of school.

  • All classes will continue to engage in required learning, even on days when class periods are shorter.
  • Students who check out or have unexcused absences during this time will not be permitted to make up missed work, which may impact final grades.
  • If a student believes they need a pre‑approved absence, families may submit a request using THIS LINK. This allows us to plan appropriately for students to take exams early if the absence is approved by administration.

  • The final days of school are purposeful learning opportunities designed to launch students successfully into summer and into their next school year.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure your student finishes the year strong. Your support—with attendance, preparation, and encouragement—makes a meaningful difference.

If you have any questions about testing or scheduling, please reach out to our school team. We are here to help every student succeed.

Annual Family Feedback Survey Themes & Actions Annual Family Feedback Survey Themes & Actions

Cypress Creek High School — Priority Themes & Action Plan

Cypress Creek High School wants to provide an update on priority themes and plans we developed using your recent survey feedback:

1. Tutoring Access

What we heard:

Families and students want clearer, more consistent access to tutoring resources—including support for English Language Learners (ELL) and other specialized needs.

Our plan:

  • Make tutoring opportunities a standard weekly feature in the Howler Hub to ensure consistent visibility.
  • Explore options for ELL-specific and specialized tutoring, including targeted language and content‑area support.
  • Create a new Academic Support page on the CCHS website with updated tutoring times, specialized services, and direct points of contact.

2. Clear Steps When Students Are Struggling

What we heard:

Families want to better understand who to contact and the steps to take when a student needs academic help.

Our plan:

  • Add points of contact for academic, counseling, ESE, and ELL support directly on the support pages of the website.
  • Develop and publish a student support flowchart outlining what to do when struggling academically, who to reach out to, and what resources are available.
  • Integrate the flowchart and contact list into the “Academic Supports: Every Learner, Every Path” section of the Howler Hub.

Transparency Update

We will be updating our website to make academic help more accessible and easier to understand. We have already made changes to the weekly Howler Hub to spotlight activities and moments that happen at CCHS in a new section called “Pack Pride Points.” Additionally, we have added a section titled “Academic Supports: Every Learner, Every Path,” which will feature ongoing updates to on‑campus academic help, assessment prep materials, and resources for tutoring and academic preparation.

We will continue to share progress updates so you can see how your feedback is making a difference. A follow‑up survey will be scheduled at the end of May so that you can share your experience with this process and ideas to inform future planning.

Thank you for partnering with us to create the best possible experience for our students and families!
