Community Update from Principal Griffin
Dear Erie High School Students and Families,
We are off to a fantastic start to the 2025–2026 school year! Our first day with the Class of 2029 on Wednesday, August 13th was filled with energy, excitement, and enthusiasm. The following day, Thursday, August 14th, we welcomed all of our students back to campus, and it has been inspiring to see our hallways, classrooms, and common areas filled with learning, camaraderie, and a strong sense of focus on a great upcoming school year. The energy our students bring to the building is inspiring.
Our Back to School Night on Wednesday evening was an incredible success. We are grateful to the many families who took the time to visit our school, connect with teachers and staff, and learn more about the great opportunities available to our students at Erie High School. The strength of our family partnerships plays a vital role in our collective mission to ensure every student thrives. I appreciate the commitment of our faculty, staff, and administration in planning this important community event.
As we start the year, I want to share several areas of emphasis that we will be working on as a faculty and staff to ensure that we are providing all Erie High School students with the very best possible educational experience. I appreciate your support and commitment to upholding these goals and the values behind them with your child(ren):
Strong student attendance and engagement — Every day matters, and being present and involved is essential to academic and personal growth.
Appropriate use of technology — Leveraging digital tools to support, not distract from, student learning.
High levels of academic achievement — Encouraging all students to reach their full potential in every class.
Participation in at least one activity — We want every Tiger to be involved in an athletic, artistic, or co-curricular organization to build friendships, skills, and school spirit.
Thank you for your ongoing support of Erie High School. Together, we will continue to make this an outstanding year of learning, growth, and achievement for every student. I wish all of our Erie High School families a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin

Front Range Community College (FRCC) Update
If you are taking an FRCC course at EHS this semester, classes will begin next week.
Unexcused Absence and Tardy Update
Student success is directly tied to regular and punctual attendance. Students who have good attendance generally achieve high grades, enjoy school more, and have postsecondary success. We will be tracking unexcused absences and tardies on a weekly basis, and students who have 4 or more unexcused absences or 5 or more unexcused tardies to class in a one week period will be assigned an after school detention.
Erie High School Family Tech Support
Our goal at Erie High School is to have Every Student, Every Day Thrive. We want to partner with you to ensure your student uses their technology to enhance their learning. Here are some strategies and supports you can do to achieve that goal as well as our district’s healthy media tips.
Turn off Notifications - This should definitely be done during school hours, but is also helpful during homework and family time.
Set School Mode - Limiting a student’s access to technology during the day can help them focus and not be drawn into distractions.
Set Phones to Grey Screen - This eliminates many of the flashing lights and color and causes the phone to be less appealing.
Family iPad Restrictions - Use district guidelines and supports to set iPads up for success at home.
Set Up for Success - When possible, technology should be out of bedrooms and not used an hour before bed. Technology can keep students up if in their rooms and prevent students from getting much needed sleep. Have a place where technology can “live” and charge that is consistent for families, and use that designated space to keep technology use intentional, rather than accidental.
iPad insurance is available to all families for $25 dollars for the year and covers a wide range of situations. This can be purchased through the fees section of Infinite Campus or come in and we can help you.

Drop-off/Pick-up and Parking Reminders
Parents dropping students off should only use the drop-off/pick-up loop. Please do not drop students off in the parking lot or use the loop behind the school.
Please drop-off/pick-up your student as quickly as possible to help keep traffic moving.
Use both lanes of the drop-off/pick-up loop.
Students need to purchase and pick-up a parking pass by Friday, August 22nd to avoid citations. Parking passes are $5 and students need to complete the Parking Pass Form.
Students riding bikes (including e-bikes) need to dismount once on school property.
The areas highlighted in ORANGE represent the drop-off/pick-up loop.
The areas highlighted in GREEN represent designated student parking.

Library Update
📚 Volunteer at the Library 📚
You are invited to volunteer in the EHS library! EHS has a new librarian and a lot of new projects to improve the library as a resource for all students. We welcome volunteers who are interested in working with our collection (processing new books, shelving, weeding old books), creating displays, and/or supporting fundraising efforts and programming. If you are interested in learning more, please email kaplan_rebecca@svvsd.org. Thank you!
