After-School Pickup Procedures After-School Pickup Procedures

After-School Pickup Procedures

For the safety of all students, we ask parents and guardians to follow the designated pickup procedures after school. Please do not park on 126th Lane or 125th Lane (the two roads directly across from Blaine High School). Instead, use the approved pickup areas indicated by the green arrows in the map below.

In addition, students who need to cross University Avenue at dismissal must use the crosswalk at University Avenue and Main Street. Crossing at any other location is unsafe due to the heavy traffic of leaving campus at that time.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe.

Alicia Sanders

Hello! My name is Alicia Sanders, and I'm thrilled to be joining the Bengal team as a special education teacher. This marks my seventh year in the field.

After earning my bachelor's degree from Concordia St. Paul, I began my journey in special education at Adams Elementary as a paraprofessional. Working there for five wonderful years in various settings solidified my passion for helping students of all abilities. I then pursued my special education license in Autism Spectrum Disorder at Bemidji State University.

I've had the pleasure of teaching at DaVinci Academy in Ham Lake, where I spent four years as a center-based classroom teacher. Most recently, I served as a LAUNCH teacher at Roosevelt for two years. I'm now excited for the adventure of working with high school students.

When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy fishing, reading, and singing karaoke. I am most looking forward to helping our students become successful adults, and watching that journey take place.

With over 25 years of manufacturing experience as a machinist and 2 years teaching welding and machining at North Branch, I am excited to bring both industry knowledge and teaching experience to Blaine, where I look forward to helping students learn how to properly and safely use shop equipment. In addition to my professional background, I have 10 years of wrestling coaching experience with athletes ages 4 to 18 and 8 years of coaching recreational baseball for ages 6 to 15, which have strengthened my skills in leadership, mentoring, and teamwork. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our three children, ages 21, 14, and 8.

TRANSPORTATION SAFETY DEPARTMENT TRANSPORTATION SAFETY DEPARTMENT

Transportation School Bus Evacuation Drills

On September 17, 2025 we will conduct the State and Federal Required Transportation

School Bus Evacuation Drills at Blaine High School. The drills are conducted twice a year, generally in Fall and Spring.

As in the past, we will be including all students with special transportation needs in these drills.

Realizing the planning and assistance needed to accomplish this, we will be providing

information to all bus drivers of special needs students and the bus paraeducators.

Please dress your child appropriately on the evacuation day, as they will be using alternate exits,

sitting on the bus floors, etc. Should there be inclement weather on the scheduled day of the drill,

it will be held one week later. If you would prefer that your child not participate in the drill, due to medical conditions or other concerns, please call 763-506-1125. If you decide not to have your child participate in the drill, this is acceptable. Your child’s safety is our primary concern. The driver will explain to them the procedures that would take place in a real emergency.

Keeping schools safe Keeping schools safe

Learn about the multi-layered safety approaches in Anoka-Hennepin Learn about the multi-layered safety approaches in Anoka-Hennepin

In Anoka-Hennepin Schools, the safety of students, staff, and families is the first priority. Anoka-Hennepin Schools uses a multi-layered approach to protect school safety and has everyday safety and security protocol measures in place that provide an organized, coordinated, and common-sense approach to working through emergencies we may encounter.

  • Close working relationships with law enforcement agencies across our school district, including School Resource Officers (SROs) assigned to school areas to make connections with our students and staff, and provide support as needed.

  • Exterior building doors are locked during the school day. Visitors must enter at a central location at each building before being granted access to the hallways. In many cases, entrances have been reconfigured over the last several years to enhance safety.

  • Required identification badges at all times. Upon visitors entering the building at a centralized location, they must show identification and receive a time-sensitive visitor badge that must be worn while on school grounds.

  • Monitoring of guests as they walk the halls of school buildings; staff are instructed that, in the event they observe someone without a district-authorized identification, they are to question the individual’s presence and escort them back to the office.

  • Visitor management systems at the school entries. A software-based visitor registration system enhances school security by retrieving data from a visitor’s state-issued ID. The information is then compared with information from several state and law enforcement databases, including the registered sex offender database. It also includes a locally stored database created by the district that could include parent or guardian custody issues, restraining orders, or visitors that have been deemed a threat to students and staff.

As a community, schools, families and community members must continue to work together to do everything we can to keep our schools safe.

Anoka-Hennepin strongly encourages anyone with information relating to the safety of our students or schools to report these concerns immediately to the school (during school hours) or law enforcement (outside of school hours). The district investigates all safety concerns and will take immediate action to protect those trusted in our care.
