Fisher Family Update
June 14, 2020
Good Morning Fisher Families,
I hope you are having a great weekend. This past Friday was our annual Field Day and it was a great success! Thank you Physical Education teacher, Jen Hornsleth, for all her hard work organizing this fun event for our community. To see the videos of our students in action, please click on this link: https://flipgrid.com/hornsleth Thank you to all our students and families for participating and sending in the videos!
This coming week we will have one last opportunity to see each other before summer vacation! Families are invited to come to Fisher and pick up your student's belongings. The procedure for the pick up has been updated to hopefully make the process more efficient.
UPDATED INFORMATION regarding picking up students belongings next week: Please enter the driveway we use for student drop off (on a typical school day). From there you will proceed past the grade 2-5 playground, go around the building - past the K-1 playground toward the parking lot. As you come around the corner of the building, you will be directed toward your student’s class table. Here you will be greeted by your child’s teacher and pick up the bag of belongings.
Please see the notice below for all the details regarding picking up your student's belongings and the grade level schedule. We can't wait to see you!
Lastly, I encourage you to take some time to visit the Counselors' Corner website. The website is designed to help families navigate through these difficult times at home with students. The site provides a variety of activities, lessons, and resources for both students and parents. While some information is directly related to the school closure, a lot of the information and resources can be useful and beneficial to families at any given time. Fisher’s Guidance Counselor (Carly Callaghan) and Fisher’s Adjustment Counselor (Karly White) plan to continue to utilize this website and update it as necessary. Now included on the website are some links you may find helpful in talking with students about the protests occurring throughout our country. Here are the links that will be added if you'd like to take a look at them. As always, please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to talk.

Student Belongings Pick Up Procedures - updated 6/12/20
UPDATED INFORMATION - Please enter the driveway we use for student drop off (on a typical school day). From there you will proceed past the grade 2-5 playground, go around the building - past the K-1 playground toward the parking lot. As you come around the corner of the building, you will be directed toward your student’s class table. Here you will be greeted by your child’s teacher and pick up the bag of belongings.
IMPORTANT - Please place a sign on the dashboard of your vehicle with your STUDENT’s LAST NAME and the TEACHER’s LAST NAME. Please ensure that the writing can be seen from a distance. Please DO NOT EXIT YOUR VEHICLE. Pop open the trunk of your vehicle.
Please place any school borrowed library books or teacher borrowed books and/or materials in the trunk of your car prior to coming to school. We will retrieve them when you pop your trunk. Students do not need to return borrowed chromebooks at this time.
A staff member of the grade level team will approach your car, confirm the nametag, retrieve and place student belongings into your trunk. Ms. Moyes will be at the school to return any medication that students had in the nurse’s office. Staff members will be wearing masks and gloves throughout the distribution process.
Please exit the upper driveways, closest to route 1A (where our buses/vans exit). Staff will direct you. We are working hard to follow the recommended social distancing guidelines during this scheduled time. Please refrain from socializing and maintain the recommended distance from others during this time.
Most importantly, we can’t wait to see our students….in person!
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Thank you,
Brian
Term II Report Cards
Student report cards for Term II will be made available for families to view by accessing the Aspen Family Portal on Friday, June 19th. Instructions for logging into your account to view your child(ren)'s report card will be provided at that time. To more effectively communicate student progress to families in this unique learning environment, report cards will take a narrative format using a newly created form. The narrative template developed by grade level teachers addresses essential standards and are consistent across the grade level. Art, Music and Physical Education teachers have also developed common narratives addressing essential standards. Next year, we anticipate returning to the traditional standards based report card.

FISHER FARMS UPDATE
Our beloved "Fisher farms" will lay fallow this growing season. While this is a disappointment, the unfortunate circumstances will provide the school garden an unexpected benefit - an entire season to replenish soil nutrients from our repeated plantings. Within the confines of our small garden, it was sometimes difficult to perform "crop-rotation" in order to replenish the soil.
We thank you, our collective Fisher family, for your volunteerism, donations and support over the years...and look forward to NEXT Spring 2021 to connect your child/ren's (our student's) educational learning and community-service through our "living classroom."
Musically,
Farmer Jim
Mrs. Connell
