A Message from Mrs. Albright
Friday, August 14, 2026
The first day of school is quickly approaching. We are so excited to welcome your child to Yorkshire. I I invite you to show off your school spirit with our printable first day signs! More information can be found in the Back to School Guide linked below.
The first day of school is just around the corner, and we want to make sure everyone has a safe and happy ride on the bus. Before the school year begins, please talk with your children about these simple bus safety rules:
Speak softly so the driver isn't distracted.
Stay in your seat, facing forward, with your bottom all the way back.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself and give everyone space.
Our goal is a safe and positive experience for all students. We thank you for your partnership in making this happen!
For families who walk or drive to school, please review the drop-off and pick-up procedures before the first day of school. I've highlighted a few important pieces below. Please review the full procedures, and keep these key points in mind to help us stay safe and efficient.
Dropping Off and Picking Up
Walk with your child through the drop-off and pick-up areas. This is especially important in the parking lot and along the school loop.
If you're parking in the back lot, please use a designated parking spot.
Drive slowly and be patient, especially when driving through the parking lot and the school loop on Mills Street.
Dismissal
You will receive a red and white sign to use during dismissal. Please have it with you, as it helps us identify you quickly and keep dismissal running smoothly.
Dismissal might take a little longer at the beginning of the year while our students learn the new routines. We appreciate your patience as we make sure everyone gets home safely.
Thank you for your help in making our school community a safe place for all.
We understand that changes in dismissal may occur from time to time. If changes to dismissal procedures need to occur please contact the office right away. The end of the school day is a very busy time and it tends to become more challenging when changes are made late in the day. Also, please do not email your child's teacher with dismissal changes. The teacher may not have the opportunity to read the email until after dismissal and therefore would miss the message. I appreciate your assistance in making dismissal a smooth and orderly process.
We hope you are able to join us tonight at our Building Preview Night from 5:30 - 6:30 PM on Monday, August 17. This is a great way to spark that new school year excitement and let any nervous butterflies float away. We have a scavenger hunt and a few activities planned throughout the building. So, whether the building is old or new to you it is sure to be a great time. Please note that classroom teachers will not be in attendance. Students will meet them on the first day of school and first and second grade families will meet the teacher at Back to School Night on August 25.
You’re invited to snap a picture reading this summer for our “Get Caught Reading” initiative led by Mrs. Wirick. We already have some great photos of our students reading in various places in our YES folder. I can't wait to see where you've been reading this summer.
