SCHOOL COUNSELING CORNER
GRADES K-2 LESSON
We will be talking about emotions: what they are, brainstorming different emotions, and how to recognize them in ourselves and others. We will be detectives in acting out different emotions and guessing what they are. We do this be looking a person's face and body language (no words!). We will also talk about why it is important to know how other people are feeling (to offer help with an uncomfortable feeling, or to celebrate a comfortable feeling), and why it is important for other people to know how we are feeling.
Watch the video below to learn more about recognizing different emotions!

GRADES 3 & 4
This month small groups of students will meet with the school counselor for lessons focused on specific skills. Skills groups are designed to target the prosocial competencies outlined by Dessa. In addition, there will be small groups with a focus on dealing with worry and friendship. Small groups will meet weekly for 20-25 minutes for a period of 6-8 weeks. If your child is being considered for a group, you will be contracted directly.
