Conference Update
The average conference attendance rate for grades PK-6 was 54%
The class that won the incentive for the highest family participation was Mrs. Kratzke's 1st grade at 83% attendance. They will be going to the movies in April!
We did not quite meet our goal of 70% attendance and we anticipate the road conditions contributed to this. We will keep our goal of 70% attendance for both fall and spring conferences next school year!
Field Trips
The 2025–2026 field trips include a variety of experiences across grade levels.
Field trips provide valuable opportunities for students to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences, build social skills, and engage in hands-on, meaningful learning. As part of this commitment to experiential learning, each elementary class is required to participate in two field trips per year at MPS.
- PreK has visited Cline Patch and Volk Farm.
- Kindergarten traveled to Emerado Patch and will visit the Fire Department, Leevers, and the Library.
- First and second grade visited the Rugby Museum and pumpkin patch and will visit the Airport.
- Third grade attended the Minot Discovery Center and they will attend the Jamestown Buffalo and Pioneer Museum.
- Fourth grade visited the Manfred Museum and will travel to Bismarck to visit the Heritage Center and state capital.
- Fifth grade will attend Marketplace for kids, Scrubs Camp, and will travel to Bismarck to visit the Heritage Center and state capital.
- Sixth grade will participate in Eco Ed Day and go skiing in Bottineau.

Understanding State Testing and Why It Matters
Each year, students take state assessments in reading and math to measure how well they are learning grade-level standards. These tests look at both performance (how students are doing right now) and growth (how much progress they’ve made over time).
This information is important because it helps determine our school’s accountability rating. It can impact whether a school is placed into additional levels of support, such as Targeted Support (TSI) or Comprehensive Support (CSI). Our school is currently identified as a CSI school and will remain in this status for the next two years. However, student performance and growth still play a key role in how we improve our standing and reduce further state intervention.
State testing also helps us reflect on our work. The results show us whether our instruction, supports, and school initiatives are working, and where we need to adjust to better support students.
In short, these assessments matter for your child’s progress, our school’s improvement, and the future direction of our programs.
How Families Can Help Students Succeed
State testing dates include April 14,16,21, and 23rd.
A few small steps can make a big difference in helping your child feel ready and confident:
- Get a good night’s sleep: Aim for an early, consistent bedtime.
- Eat a healthy breakfast: Fuel helps with focus and energy.
- Arrive on time: Avoid rushing so your child can start the day calm and ready.
- Encourage a positive mindset: Remind them to take their time and do their best.
- Keep it low stress: Stay calm and reassuring—confidence matters.
- Pack essentials: Make sure they have glasses, headphones (if needed), or anything required by the school.
