LISD School Newsletter
From Dr. Martin....
Dear LISD Families,
It's High School Graduation Week! This week is just full of activities aimed at celebrating our seniors. From the moment those banners are hung in the LVM produce section, we start completing our preparations for graduation.
Last week, we hosted a scholarship and honors project presentations night. Our community gave $91,000 in local scholarship money, and once again, I'm humbled by the generosity of this community.
By this point, senior grades are in, projects have been presented, post secondary education plans have been made, and it's time to celebrate the Class of 2026 as they leave K-12 schooling and head out into the world as young adults. Having had the privilege of getting to know them, and watched as they have moved from tweens to teens to adults, I'd say they are ready!
On Friday, June 5, at 3:00, our seniors don caps and gowns and walk through the school one last time, making their way to the elementary school entrance to ring the school bell. We'd love to pack the hallways with staff, students, and parents, so please join us at the end of the day for this sweet ritual.
Do come to graduation if you can. It's on Saturday, June 6, at 2:00 in the M.R. Buffum Gym. This year, we have 16 graduates, and a Lopez graduation is truly a thing of joy and tradition. The ceremony will be followed by a community graduation potluck at the LCCA. You're all invited to everything and I hope you'll join us!
All my best,
Martha
