A letter from the Principal
We have made it to the last 6 days of schools for seniors and last 10 days of school for 9th -11th Grade. As we begin to enter final exam week and the last 2 weeks of school, I want to share some information and a few reminders.
EXAM EXEMPTION ATTENDANCE IS VERY IMPORTANT–Students may be exempt from some or all final exams. They still MUST attend the class during the exam. Students are only exempt from taking the test, not attending school. If a student is absent during an exempted final exam, their exemption will be voided and they will receive a 0% on the exam. They must make it up during the summer exam makeup window (May 28th - June 12th). Therefore, it is very important that students not miss school during our exam periods.
NO BAGS: Students will not be allowed to bring any bags the week of May 19 - 23. All bags will be taken at the door as they arrive and will be returned at the end of the day. Anything students bring on those days must be in a gallon size Ziploc bag. The following items will NOT be allowed on campus: backpacks, purses bigger than a small clutch, etc. Athletic coaches will communicate via SportsU IF athletes need to dress out on exam days. Athletic bags will be dropped off before school begins.
OPTIONAL STUDY HALL: May 20th through May 22nd there is a Study Hall built into our exam schedule. Students have lunch from 12:00 to 1:00 and Study Hall from 1:05-2:50. Lunch and Study Hall are optional. Most students leave during that time. All students who remain on campus must be in a classroom for tutorials at the conclusion of lunch or they will remain in the cafeteria until dismissal. If a student leaves campus, they will not be allowed back in the building for the remainder of the day. If you do not want your student to leave on that day during lunch/study hall, please be sure to clearly communicate your expectations with them so they can abide by your instructions. Our buses will leave our campus at 2:50 on those days to return students home.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Friday May 23rd is a half day. Lunch will begin at 10:45 that day and students will be allowed to leave at that time. Buses will leave promptly at 11:00am.
It has been a great year back at MHS. I have truly enjoyed serving as your principal and am excited for Graduation on May 20th!

My name is Alli Comings, and I am a Senior Community Engagement Specialist at SOLV Energy.
SOLV Energy is a solar contractor and services provider for the utility sector. We build large-scale solar facilities, like the Second Division Solar Farm in Brazoria County, that generate enough energy to power upward of 20,000 homes per year with clean electricity.
At SOLV Energy our mission is to make a positive difference in the communities we work and live in through projects that generate good energy for people and the planet. Beyond the projects we build, we often partner with schools and organizations near our jobsites to invest in STEAM education.
I wanted to pass along a scholarship opportunity to share with Manvel High School High School seniors. SOLV Energy is proud to announce the third annual launch of The PowerUp! Renewable Energy scholarship, awarding six students in the U.S. $1,500 each who demonstrate how they will use their future education to pursue a career related to clean energy.
