Weekly Administrative Update

We have had a fun-filled week here at BFA. It is amazing seeing students show school spirit and create the atmosphere that makes school a great place to be. Our goal is for students to come together as a community and participate in the BFA traditions that unite us.

I would like to thank the School Spirit Committee, which is filled with creative and thoughtful students, who worked countless hours to make this a great experience. Thank you to the teacher advisor, Lauren Liberatore, for her hard work and guidance.

Principal Rico

Principal Rico announced on September 17, 2025, that Marie DeSorgher has been named a Commended Student in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter or Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) which conducts the program will be presented by the principal to this scholastically talented senior.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2026 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

"Those being named Commended Students (Marie DeSorgher) has demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success", comment a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation.
