MTMS Wolf Wire
December 5, 2025
MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens.
A Few Words From the Principal
I realize that as it colder we are going to have more car riders. Please keep the following things in mind to help make drop off and pick run smoothly.
- Please pull as far forward in the car loop as possible. I have been standing outside most mornings and am waving people forward and many are just stopping at the main doors. This causes the car loop to run very slow resulting in people spending more time waiting and students being late to school
- Have your student ready to exit the car when you enter the car loop
- Have your student exit the right side nearest the side walk. This helps to make sure that they are safe as other cars are leaving the loop
- Allow extra time. When it gets cold or there is weather more people will be dropping off and picking up students.
- Please be kind

Yearbook Orders
The deadline to purchase yearbooks is fast approaching at the end of the semester! The yearbook fee is automatically included in the student fees that were posted to Skyward in August. If you paid all fees owed, you likely have already paid for a yearbook. If you haven't paid fees, or haven't paid the yearbook fee, now is the time to do so. You can verify what fees you have paid by logging into your parent Skyward account, clicking on the "Fees & Fee Payments" tile and confirming payment of the yearbook fee in the amount of $32.00. You may pay fees online or by cash/check to the MTMS office.
If your student wants a yearbook, don't miss out! We will not have extras available to purchase at the end of the school year.
Kansas Teacher of the Year Nominations
USD 232 has been an important and strong participant in the Kansas Teacher of the Year Program for many years. De Soto has had fifteen state finalists and thirteen semi-finalists represented in the program since 2000.
We would like to invite you to nominate any teacher whom you consider to be an outstanding and effective educator. This person must have completed 5 years of teaching with at least 2 of them having been in USD 232. If there is a USD 232 educator whom you believe to be outstanding and deserving of special recognition, please use the link below to fill out the nomination form.

Nomination deadline is noon on Friday, December 12th, 2025 at noon.
Inclement Weather Reminders
We had a bit of a crazy start to the week with the snow on Monday and delayed start on Tuesday. Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding as we all navigated the change in routine. This is a good time to review that you are signed up for text alerts and know where to check for weather-related school updates. Also, please make sure that your emergency contacts are up to date so we know who is safe to pick up your student.

Good Things at MTMS
Life & Leadership
Before the break, Mrs. K's Leadership class ended the week with an UNO Game Day.
Students focused on the terms "grit" and "determination."
They played the game and then reflected on how they react in various situations of stress.
From Student Council
Thank you to all the 6th graders who supported our fundraiser for Cross-Lines Community Outreach in Kansas City, Kansas, by buying duct tape. We were able to send them a check for $292.07!
Stay tuned for our next fundraiser. At the end of January, we will host a Chapstick and cough drop drive for Project 1020, a cold weather shelter for the unhoused in Lenexa. We are always so grateful for your support.

Staff Holiday Gift Fund
Want an easy way to handle teacher gifts this holiday season? Donate at the link below! All contributions (through Dec 15th) will be pooled and given to MTMS teachers & staff as cash gifts, along with a card listing all donors. Please note how you would like your family identified in the Name/Student section of the form so we can include it correctly. It’s a simple, thoughtful way to give and a present they’ll truly appreciate.
