Take Responsibility: Predictable Events and Responses

Every day we experience events that we do not control. Many of these events are predictable, and if we prepare for these events our responses are often better. At home, it is predictable that my 7-year-old son complains when he needs to turn the TV off and get a shower. Since this is predictable, I already have a response cued up. "If you want to be able to watch TV tomorrow, you need to turn the TV off now." If I let my emotions take over I may get upset with him causing a power struggle.

At school, it is predictable that a staff member will need to call off work because they are ill. In this case, we have plans/procedures to get substitute teachers. However, if none are available, we need additional plans. In this case, we utilize other staff members to teach the class.

What predictable event can you prepare for this week?

Learn the Facts at a Community Conversation!

Members of the Dublin City Schools district leadership team are hitting the road and joining the principal of every school for a co-hosted Community Conversation. These Community Conversation events will be levy-focused, providing an opportunity to learn facts and ask questions about the upcoming levy and bond issue. Our school’s Community Conversation event will be Tueseday, September, 26, at 6:00 in the Commons. We welcome everyone to come and be a part of this informative session. Together, let's make our community stronger through open dialogue and shared knowledge. See you there!

Start With Hello Week

Start with Hello is an important social and emotional learning program developed out of the Sandy Hook tragedy. The program is dedicated to teaching students to be more socially aware of their peers. As children develop we want them to learn how to identify a student in need of a friend and act in a kind and compassionate manner. Click or see the attached picture for details of each day and what do wear.

Pinney Palooza

Pinney Palooza is scheduled for September 22, 5:00 - 8:00. The Jerome Band and Cheerleaders will kick us off at 5:15. Please consider volunteers for a time slot to help the event run smoothly.
