Our first dance of the school year is coming up on Wednesday, October 29 going immediately after school until 4:30PM. This is a great opportunity for students to dress up and have fun with their friends! Students must stay in the school building if they wish to participate in the dance. Students may leave the dance at any time, but once students leave the building they will not be allowed to re-enter.

Students are welcome to wear costumes to school and the dance but they must:

  • Be appropriate for middle school
  • Not cover the face (no masks)
  • Have no fake weapons
  • Not be inflatable

The PTA is also seeking donations of snacks and drinks for the dance. Thank you to everyone who has already purchased items! You can buy items off of our Amazon wish list or bring donations directly to the school and drop them off with Ms. Edda in the main office.

6th Grade Science- Ecosystems

In this upcoming unit students explore Earth’s ecosystems. Students begin by analyzing and interpreting data in order to understand the relationships among organisms, populations, and their resources. Students narrow their focus even more to construct explanations about specific organism interactions. Students develop models to represent the flow of energy and cycling of matter within ecosystems. Students should be able to develop arguments about how changes in the ecosystem affect the populations in these ecosystems, understanding that some communities need more energy than others to maintain stability. This unit also presents multiple opportunities for students to understand these concepts through a mathematical lens by analyzing data and creating graphs and mathematical models to represent these ecosystem interactions. The learning opportunities in this unit add a layer of understanding about predicting changes in our world.

7th Grade Science: Density and Properties of Matter

In this unit, students are investigating the physical properties of matter—such as density—and how these properties help us classify and identify different substances. Through hands-on experiments and modeling activities, students explore how matter behaves at the particle level and look for patterns to make predictions. They will use scientific tools to measure and analyze various materials, deepening their understanding of structure and function. By the end of the unit, students will be able to use evidence to explain why density is a key property in identifying matter. This unit builds critical thinking and scientific reasoning skills.

8th Grade Biology: Homeostasis Unit

In this unit, students are exploring how the human body maintains internal balance, or homeostasis, through complex interactions between body systems. They are learning how feedback mechanisms help the body respond to changes in the environment, both inside and out. Key concepts include thermoregulation (how we maintain body temperature) and blood sugar regulation. Through hands-on activities, discussions, and investigations, students are discovering how the body works to stay stable and healthy. By the end of the unit, they will understand how our body systems work together to keep us in balance—even when the world around us changes.
