Late Bus Sign Up: 4/27-30

Please sign up by 9:00 am Monday, 4/27 if you would like your student(s) to ride the late bus the week we return from spring break.

THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO SIGN UP FOR THE LATE BUS.

If your student is signed up for the late bus, we expect they will be on the bus. Please notify the front office if there is an unexpected change in plans.

Spring brings change. For our students, that might mean preparing for a new grade, a different team, or even high school. For our staff, it sometimes means saying goodbye to beloved colleagues who have been an important part of the SCS community. At this point, these are the faculty & staff members that we anticipate will not be returning to SCS next year:

  • Joey Adams, retiring

  • Kim Elia, retiring

  • Annette Hebert, retiring

  • Sally Stevens, retiring

CVSD Inspiration Awards

Two SCS students, Eliora and Audrey, were honored at Tuesday's CVSD School Board Meeting as this month's Inspiration Award recipients.

Eliora is a first grader and brings kindness, joy, and warmth wherever she goes. She cares deeply about others and is always ready to help, making sure everyone feels included and supported. Her bright smile and joyful spirit lift those around her, and she shares her happiness through her participation and creativity. Eliora loves to learn and is a wonderful example of how to be kind and thoughtful every day.

Audrey is a fourth grader who shows perseverance and dedication in everything she does. Even when this year has been challenging, she has stayed positive and continually does her best. She’s involved in Robocats, chorus, and musical theater, where her creativity and joy really shine. Audrey is kind, caring, and empathetic.

Congratulations Eliora and Audrey!

Choral Concert & Town Meeting on the Arts with Senator Sanders

42 Shelburne students proudly represented our school and town at Bernie Sanders' Day of Choral Music on Saturday, April 11th. Students attended rehearsals and a workshop about stage presence, then met with Senator Sanders for a town hall meeting about why music is important to them. SCS students had insightful and thoughtful questions and answers for Bernie. In the evening, SCS students kicked off the choral concert under the direction of Jodi Sanders and student intern Shealeigh Martin. Many SCS families were in attendance! At the end of the concert, students and teachers from across the state came together to sing the Vermont state song "These Green Mountains."

Learn more about this fabulous day at Senator Sanders' "Bernie Buzz" newsletter here!

This April Break, Consider Planning a Break from Screens

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) team supports students in grades 5-12 by promoting well-being, prevention, and healthy decision-making, and serves as a resource for both students and caregivers. As April break approaches and routines shift, we encourage families to create balance by setting small, realistic limits on screen time to help improve sleep, mood, and connection. Even short breaks from devices can make a positive difference and open up time for meaningful activities together, like screen-free meals or afternoons. Overall, the goal is not to eliminate technology, but to help young people build healthy habits, awareness, and balance over time. Here are a handful of great suggestions and strategies to take a break from screens.
