26-27 Welcome Back Edition

Sea Gate Scoop26-27 Welcome Back Edition

Dear SGE Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I am thrilled to welcome both our returning families and those joining the Sea Gate Elementary family for the first time. We have an exciting year ahead, and we are launching it with a meaningful new theme: "From Tide to Sky."

This theme reminds us that every great journey begins with a single step forward. Just as the tide rises and reaches the shore, our students begin each year with new opportunities to learn, grow, and discover their strengths. And like the sky above, there are no limits to what they can achieve when they are supported, challenged, and inspired.

At Sea Gate Elementary, we continue to be proud of our tradition of excellence. We are honored to remain an A-rated school, a reflection of the dedication of our students, the expertise of our teachers and staff, and the unwavering support of our families. Together, we have built a culture where high expectations, strong relationships, and a commitment to continuous growth help every child succeed.

Hard work remains at the heart of everything we do. It is the foundation upon which confidence is built and goals are achieved. Whether students are mastering new academic skills, exploring their creativity, developing leadership abilities, or showing kindness to others, they are learning that success comes from perseverance, determination, and a belief in themselves.

This year, we challenge every member of our Sea Gate community to embrace the spirit of From Tide to Sky. We want our students to dream big, reach higher, and believe in the possibilities ahead. We want them to recognize that every accomplishment, no matter how small, is a step toward something extraordinary.

Our teachers are ready to inspire, our staff is prepared to support, and together we will create a year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. By working together, we can ensure that every child feels valued, connected, and empowered to soar.

Thank you for your partnership and trust. I look forward to all we will accomplish together.

Here's to a year of new horizons, endless possibilities, and soaring success!

With pride and gratitude,

Ms. Kirby
Principal

Meet Your School Counselor, Ms. Brewer

Hello, Sea Gate Elementary families!

I am excited to introduce myself as your school counselor. With 14 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving as both a classroom teacher and a school counselor. Since 2015, I have proudly worked in CCPS, supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth.

I believe every child has the ability to learn, grow, and succeed. My goal is to help create a safe, supportive school environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. I look forward to partnering with our students, families, and staff to make this a wonderful and successful school year!

Visitors are not permitted on campus during arrival, unless you have an appointment. Please make sure to always have your picture identification with you. Students who arrive to their classroom after 8:25 will be marked tardy.

Car riders: Please have your Pink car rider tag visible in your windshield on the passenger-side for visibility. We expect delays on the the first days of school and appreciate your patience. Student's names will be called and sent to the assigned number. Please remain in your vehicle, your child will be brought to you.

Park and Pick Up (Walkers): If you are not walking from your home, please use the parking lot across Seagate Drive at St. Williams' Church. You MAY NOT park in the church parking lot on West Blvd. Golf Carts must use the car rider line. Please make sure to have your green walker sign with you EVERY day for pick up, as different staff members may be dismissing students and student safety is our number one priority.

Students will be dismissed by grade level to their indoor holding areas for a safe, secure dismissal.

  • Students riding the bus will be dismissed first over the loudspeaker and load one bus at a time. If a bus is not present or the weather is too dangerous to depart, students will remain indoors until we are able to dismiss safely.
  • Car riders will be seated by grade level and called by name to be escorted to their car by a teacher. Parents are asked to please have their car tag displayed to ensure the process is safe and smooth for all. Students walking to their cars will follow a safe path, avoiding the elements and weather. Please note that all 6 loading spots may not be used during this time.
  • Park and Pick Up students will remain indoors and will be escorted to the covered bike area as their names are called. Your Park and Pick Up tag will need to be visible to ensure the process is safe and smooth for all.
  • Students who walk or bike to school will remain indoors until the weather passes.
  • You may enter the car rider line with your Park and Pick up Sign to pick up your child.

If you do not have a car rider or walker sign, please have a valid, physical, photo id ready, as student safety is the upmost importance and we will need to verify all pick-ups.

Important Dress Code Update: Student Lanyards and ID Badges

To enhance campus safety and security, student ID badges are required daily as part of the CCPS dress code. Wearing a badge helps staff quickly identify students and supports a safe learning environment for everyone. Each student will be provided with:

  • One (1) SGE breakaway lanyard
  • One (1) student ID badge

Students may choose to use their own breakaway lanyard or ID holder; however, it cannot be from another CCPS school and must meet school safety requirements.

If a Student Forgets Their Badge

Students who arrive at school without their badge and lanyard will be issued a paper wristband with their student ID number written on it for the day (see image above). This safety measure also serves as an indicator that your child did not have their badge at school that day.

Students may purchase replacement items upon arrival to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays only from 7:45 a.m. to 8:25 a.m.

Replacement Costs:

  • Replacement badge: $3
  • Replacement breakaway lanyard (non-SGE breakaway lanyard): $2

Parents will receive notification at the end of each week if their child was issued a temporary wristband due to not having a badge for the first quarter. Repeated instances of forgetting a badge may result in progressive consequences in accordance with the CCPS Student Code of Conduct, Rule 11 (https://www.collierschools.com/students-families/studentconduct/student-dress-code).

Lost or Damaged Badges

Students are responsible for keeping their badge in good condition and wearing them at all times, including during arrival, dismissal, bus transportation, car rider pick-up, and while walking to and from school. Replacement badges and/or lanyards may be issued for items that are lost, damaged, or defaced and will be subject to the replacement fees listed above.

New This Year: Lanyard and Badge Expectations

Please review the following expectations with your child:

What can be attached to the lanyard or badge?

Nothing. No accessories may be attached to student lanyards or badges.

  • Spirit Stick rings should be attached to student backpacks.
  • Stickers, keychains, charms, badge holders, hand sanitizers or any other decorative items may not be attached to the lanyard or badge.

When must students wear their badge?

Students are required to wear their badge at all times while on campus, including:

  • In the classroom
  • In hallways
  • During PE
  • At recess
  • During lunch
  • In arrival and dismissal areas

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure a safe, secure, and orderly learning environment for all students.

Important Student Assessment Dates

Please mark these important testing dates on your calendar. The data collected from these assessments plays a vital role in guiding teacher lesson planning and supporting targeted student instruction. By understanding each student's strengths and areas for growth, our teachers can better meet the needs of every learner.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need additional information. I am happy to help.

Mrs. Howard
Assistant Principal

FAST Progress Monitoring 1 (PM1) and Progress Monitoring 2 (PM2) Results

PM1 and PM2 results will be available electronically on the FOCUS Parent Portal. A parent email will go out from CCPS once the scores are loaded. It is important to note that the new state mandated FAST PM1 and PM2 tests include grade-level content for the entire year, much of which has not been taught yet. The purpose of these assessments is to provide a baseline score at the beginning of the year to track student progress in learning the B.E.S.T. Standards. Therefore, your child’s achievement level should not be interpreted as a prediction of how he/she will perform on the end of year assessment.
