Irvington WeeklyNewsletterOctober 30, 2026
While this has been a long weekend for students, we have been hard at work here at Irvington getting report cards ready! They will be finalized and uploaded to ParentVue next Friday (November 6). Just a reminder: if you do not have ParentVue access, please connect with Ms Caroline in the front office.

Update from the Village Table

Nicole Mayeda and Sarah Bentley, our two representatives for the Village Table (the superintendent's Site Council), have compiled the notes from their meetings in this document. You can read them and reach out to them if you have any questions, either in person or via email. The next Village Table meeting is next week, and they will update the notes in the same document.

Irvington Community Market

Join Irvington on Sunday mornings November 15 and December 6 from 10am-12pm for a market highlighting the spirit of our community. There will be trinkets and treasures, pancakes, craft tables, a puppet show, and friends.

Do you have talent or treasure to sell at the market? Share your passion & spark neighborhood joy by hosting your own table. Email michael.benkoski@gmail.com to inquire about reserving a vendor's table. Open to the community at large.

Costume Swap

Bring your old Halloween costumes to drop-off next week on Thursday, November 5, and Friday, November 6, and donate them to our community costume swap! All sizes are accepted, just please make sure everything is clean, dry, and in usable condition. Then come check out the treasure trove of costumes and find something for your dress up closet at the Irvington Community Market on Saturday, November 15, from 10am-12pm. Want to help? Contact greenteam@irvingtonschool.com.

Interested in Running an After-School Class?

It’s almost time to start planning after school classes for winter term! If you would like to teach an after-school class at Irvington this winter, please fill out this registration form by Nov. 6. Questions? Check out the FAQs page or email afterschool@irvington.com.

Community Recycling Drive

The Green Team is happy to host a special recycling drive at the Irvington Community Market on Saturday, November 15, from 10am-12pm. Check out this flyer to see what will be accepted. Want to help? Contact greenteam@irvingtonschool.com.

Grounds Committee Meeting

Though things may feel uncertain right now, we still have a dedicated group of volunteers who are committed to maintaining an active and beautiful school campus for our students! Whether you are a Grounds team veteran or completely new to the scene, all are welcome to join our quarterly Grounds Committee meeting Tuesday, November 3 at 7pm at Pocket Pub. If you cannot make it but would like to stay in the loop, please email us at grounds@irvingtonschool.com.

Community Connections Meeting

Come join a group of parents working to strengthen our ties with the surrounding community: the Community Connections Committee! In the past, we have focused on welcoming incoming kindergarten families in our neighborhood, building relationships with our feeder elementary schools, and helping smooth the transition into Harriet Tubman Middle School. There's plenty of work to be done, and anyone with interest in this area is welcome to join!

Next meeting: Thursday, November 5, 12:00–12:30pm, on Zoom.

Board Member Listening Session on November 9 <REPEAT>

The two board members whose districts overlap with Irvington's catchment area, Michelle DePass and Virginia La Forte, will come to Irvington for a listening session on Monday, November 9, from 9:30-10:30am. I know that this is an inconvenient time, but it was the best option among the limited choices we had. Board members will hear the superintendent's final rightsizing proposals the following week, so this is a great opportunity for you to share your priorities and concerns with them. They're also able to answer any questions you have!
