Letter from Mr. V
Dear Jaguar Nation,
Welcome back to JES for the 2026-27' school year! It has been wonderful to have the halls abuzz again with teachers and support staff this past week, and we are super excited to have students back on Wednesday to really make the building sing! It's a great reminder to me that it is us (students, staff, and families) that really make our school the place to be.
As things start to wind up, I would like you to consider sports. An idea that has made an impact on me after a year as JES principal is that this town is special and it needs us right now. Sports are part of what gives a town an identity and helps to root kiddos in their community. If you send your student to play sports in another town, please consider enrolling them in Johnson Rec instead. If we all make the choice to choose Johnson, we can bring some robust sports culture back to town!
To support that effort, Isabelle Sullivan will be presenting with me at our first Celebration of Learning Assembly on 8/28 to sell the sizzle of Johnson Rec to the students, and she will have a sign up table in the lobby during Open House on 9/15. I invite you to come out for both and sign your kiddo(s) up!
Some quick reminders to start the year off right:
- Walking your students:
- All students may be walked to their classes on the first day of school.
- Kindergarteners may be walked to class Wednesday thru Friday of this week.
- PreK students must always be walked to class.
- Students not walked to class must drop off at the door or in the lobby.
- If you are going to park and walk in with your student, park in the designated parking spots. Do not park in the fire lane (along the sidewalk at the entrance).
- After the first day, any students arriving after 7:50 must be accompanied by an adult to the office.
- Student absences and changes to after school plans will need to be left by voicemail message on the main office line - Ext. 9.
- Please submit updates to your annual forms as soon as possible!
For Johnson,
Dane VanNosdeln
