One Last Week Together 💛🐾

As we head into our final week of the school year, I want to sincerely thank all of our families for your support, encouragement, and partnership as I navigated my first year as principal. The collaboration between school and home is so important, and our students are most successful when they know we are working together to support them.

We have a full week of special events planned, so please be sure to read the additional details below. On Monday, we will have our school picnic at Town Field, and on Tuesday, we will celebrate Field Day, with events taking place both at school and at Town Field. I would like to extend a special thank you to Sam Barbarotta and the PTG, especially Sarah Pikula, for the time and effort they have put into planning these events for our students and to everyone who has signed up to help.

On Wednesday, our 8th grade students will spend their final day with us before graduation at 6:00 p.m. that evening. Our last day of school is Thursday, June 18th, and we will dismiss students at 11:30 a.m.

This will be the final SMORE newsletter as the NBSU will be adopting a unified communication platform for the 26-27 school year. You will see this new communication later this summer.

Thank you again for being such an important part of our school community. Wishing all of our students and families a safe, fun, and relaxing summer!

Event Information Event Information

School Picnic

As you know this year, the school picnic looks different than it has in the past. As we are not able to go to a body of water, the PTG has been working hard to put together a fun "picnic" style day.

  • Sunscreen: apply at home and bring for reapplication
  • Water bottle (filled)
  • Snack
  • Lunch will be served as usual

Field Day

Field Day will take place at both the school and the Town Field.
  • Sunscreen: apply at home and bring for reapplication
  • Water bottle (filled)
  • Sneakers
  • Lunch will be served as usual
  • Wet Clothes - there are water activities as part of field day. Students should wear suits to school under their clothes and have an extra set of clothes. Students do not need to have a bathing suit on to participate in water activities but DO NEED an extra set of clothes.

Graduation

Graduation is Wednesday June 17th at 6:00. Eigth grade students should arrive at 5:30. There will be 6 tickets given to each family. These are for use if the graduation has to be moved indoors due to inclement weather. The intent is to have graduation outdoors, which means families will have six seats again, but can bring extra chairs for as many guests as you would like. Parking will be in the front of the building, and the ceremony will take place out back on the playground blacktop.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up:

  • Parents/guardians remain in cars while lining up around the center island.

  • Children exit cars only when a staff member approaches.

  • Staff will assist students into cars at dismissal. Staff cannot buckle students in.

  • ALL Preschool parents should stay in the far right lane. However, at the end of pick up if left two lanes are empty you may carefully move to those lanes in order to expedite pick-up.

  • We ask that you refrain from arriving at the school more than 10 minutes before arrival and dismissal times, 8:10 and 2:50 respectively. This will cut down on traffic back up into the road for a longer period of time and allow busses to safely enter the school's driveway,
