PIC Parent Update

PIC Parent UpdateOctober 24, 2025

Message from Principal Tekiela Message from Principal Tekiela

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The weather has changed this week. Please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for outdoor recess.

Today is the last day to sign up for parent–teacher conferences. If all conference slots are filled, please contact your child’s teacher directly to arrange another time. I look forward to seeing many of you on Thursday at PIC for conferences.

Report cards will be emailed today at noon to the parent contact listed on your PowerSchool Parent account. If you do not receive the email by this afternoon, please contact your building office. If any technical issues arise with this new system, we will send a follow-up communication to keep families informed. As a reminder, you can always view your child’s grades through the PowerSchool app.

We are still seeking a Veteran volunteer to speak at our Veterans Day Assembly on November 11. If you are a Veteran or know someone who would enjoy speaking with our students, please contact the school. This year we are also creating a Veterans Wall of Honor and collecting personal care items for the Manteno Veterans Home. Flyers went home yesterday and are attached below.

Congratulations to our Big Blue Student and Staff Monthly spotlight winners, student Nathan Kulacz and paraprofessional Mrs. Murdie. Our October focus was "Inspire with Empathy."

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please reply to this message or call the school office.

Bus Transportation Change Update 9/22/25

With the increase in students on bus routes this year, we are no longer able to allow extra passengers to ride home with other students. Families will need to make alternate arrangements for these situations.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and support.

School Attendance School Attendance

We encourage families to ensure that their students arrive at school on time every day. We recognize that there are valid reasons for students to miss school occasionally. To help keep everyone informed, we send attendance reminder letters at 7, 10, and 14 absences. Additionally, we collaborate with Will County Truancy Officers to provide extra support services for families in need. The attendance team at PIC is dedicated to partnering with families for their success. Please feel free to reach out to our office or Principal Tekiela with any questions or concerns.
