Stewart Parent Star Report
January 30, 2026
Dear Stewart Elementary Community,
Thank you for attending Chinese New Year. It was a great event and we loved having the community in our school. Thank you to all of the teachers and staff who worked to ensure the event went off without a hitch.
Here are the three things that you need to know for the week.
- We kindly ask all parents to please take a few minutes to complete the surveys in your myDSD account. Your feedback is critical in helping us plan for the future and improve our practices here at Stewart. We truly value your thoughtful input and appreciate the time you take to complete these surveys anonymously. Thank you for partnering with us to make Stewart the best it can be!
- Don't forget to schedule your Parent Teacher Conference appointment in myDSD. The scheduler will close on Friday February 6 at 4:00pm.
- We have had a great first week of our chocolate fundraiser. Our goal is to raise $13,000 for technology at Stewart! Any student who returns the permission slip will get the first prize, even if they are not going to sell chocolate. You can just write no box on the permission slip and not sign it. If you prefer not to participate but would like to donate, you can do so here: Technology Fundraiser - DSD Give. All students who return their flyer will receive the first prize, whether they choose to sell or not.
Sincerely,
Michelle Yoho and Laura Campbell
Principal and Administrative Intern, Stewart Elementary

Required Firearm Safety Presentations for 4th - 6th Graders
This email was sent to all parents of 4th, 5th and 6th Graders today:
I am writing to inform you that, in accordance with Utah House Bill 104 (H.B. 104), schools in Utah are now required to provide an annual 10-minute firearm safety training. In Davis School District, this training will be provided to students in grades 4, 5, and 6. I recognize that this topic may feel sensitive for some families. With that in mind, I want to be as transparent as possible by sharing the guidance I received, the lesson outline, and the actual PowerPoint presentations that will be used during instruction.
Each January, our classrooms review school policies and procedures and how they align with Stewart Elementary’s three school expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe, as well as a quick review of the DSD Safe Schools policy. With the new requirements outlined in H.B. 104, it is a natural fit to include this safety instruction during our regular mid-year expectation reviews.
Here is what you need to know:
Separate presentations will be provided for 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students.
The state recommends that parents receive at least two weeks’ notice before instruction (this message serves as that notice).
As a required safety presentation, instruction will be offered to all students in grades 4–6, February 17-20.
Parents/guardians may choose to opt their child out of this instruction by completing and returning the opt-out form.
Any student who does not return an opt-out form will participate in the training. (Forms also available in the main office.)
Attached to this message, you will find:
