Brief Message From the Principal

Dear Jayhawk Elementary Families,

Drop off Procedure Reminder:

As a quick reminder, morning drop-off procedures remain the same. Our doors open and car line begins at 7:30 AM each day. Families are strongly encouraged to use the car line for student drop-off. For safety reasons, students should not be left unsupervised on the front steps or outside the building prior to 7:30 AM, as staff supervision is not available before that time. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe and cared for each morningβ€”we truly appreciate your support and partnership.

As we continue the new semester at Jayhawk Elementary, we are also starting a new round of reading interventions for our students. These interventions are short, targeted learning times designed to help students strengthen specific reading skills, such as decoding, fluency, or comprehension. Every child learns differently, and these supports allow us to meet students right where they are and help them continue to grow with confidence.

To guide this work, our teachers use a tool called FastBridge. FastBridge helps us understand how students are progressing by looking at reading data and identifying who may need extra support, who is making steady progress, or who is on track. Based on this information, students may receive additional small-group instruction, extra practice, or enrichment activitiesβ€”all with the goal of helping them become strong, successful readers.

We also want to remind families of students in grades 3–6 that updated grades are always available through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. This is a great way to stay informed about your child’s academic progress throughout the semester. Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to help every student succeed.
