Titan Student Spotlight
Ryan Krivak Represents Ohio at American Legion Boys Nation in Washington, D.C.
This summer, Ryan Krivak earned the opportunity to participate in one of the nation’s most respected youth leadership programs, American Legion Buckeye Boys State 2026, held at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Among approximately 700 young men representing high schools from communities across Ohio, Ryan distinguished himself through his leadership, dedication, commitment, and ability to work effectively with others.
Serving as DeWeese County Treasurer
During Buckeye Boys State, Ryan ran for office and was elected DeWeese County Treasurer. In that role, he embraced his responsibilities and demonstrated the hard work, commitment, dedication, and people skills that would ultimately lead to an even greater honor.
Ryan's experience at Boys State became even more memorable when he was selected as one of only 15 young men out of the 700 boys in attendance to interview for the opportunity to represent Ohio at the American Legion Boys Nation in Washington, D.C. At the conclusion of Buckeye Boys State, Ryan was honored to be selected as one of Ohio's two 2026 Boys Nation Senators! This is an exceptional achievement and a tremendous honor. Ryan traveled to Washington, D.C., where he represented Ohio at American Legion Boys Nation from July 17–25, 2026. He joined outstanding young men from across the country for a week of mock Senate sessions, debates, leadership activities, and visits to our nation's landmarks and government institutions.
Congratulations to Ryan, and great job representing BMHS.

Ohio Direct Admission Participation Authorization Letter
Our district is participating in Ohio Direct Admission, which allows students to find out which participating colleges they meet admissions requirements for based on their academic records. To identify colleges and universities where students qualify for direct admission, the school/district will upload and/or confirm a student education record data (e.g., grade point average (GPA), test scores) into a secure portal where it will be matched against participating colleges and universities’ admission criteria. No student information will be sent to any college/university during this matching step.
By participating in the Ohio Direct Admission Program, the student and the parent or legal guardian hereby expressly acknowledge and authorize the student’s school or school district to disclose the student’s educational records—including GPA, standardized test scores, and other required academic or demographic information—to the Ohio Department of Higher Education (“ODHE”) and its authorized agents for the exclusive purpose of determining eligibility for, and administering, the Program.
By Participating, the student and the parent or legal guardian further acknowledges and agrees that:
- All educational records will be collected, transmitted, stored, and used in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and all other applicable federal and state privacy laws.
- The Participant (student and parent/legal guardian) may request the opportunity to review the student’s educational information prior to its submission by emailing the Records Administrative Assistant, Christy Belford at cbelford@bereaschools.org by September 11, 2026.
- The educational records disclosed under this authorization shall be used solely for program-related purposes and shall not be sold, disclosed, or used for any unrelated purpose by ODHE, the school district, or any third party.
- If a student is interested in claiming a direct admission offer, they may elect to send limited information from the portal to an institution. No information will be shared from the portal without a student’s explicit consent.
Participation in the Program is voluntary. Participants who choose to participate must opt in by completing the form below by September 25, 2026. Participants who do not wish to participate in the Program do not need to complete the form. For more information on the Program, please visit highered.ohio.gov/direct-admission. A full list of participating colleges and universities can be found HERE.

News from the Clinic
Attention Seniors: The Ohio Department of Health School Immunization Requirement now includes two doses of Meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine to be administered before a student enters the twelfth grade. Therefore, your rising twelfth-grader will need to show proof of having received the Meningococcal vaccine. Currently there are no school entry requirements for Meningococcal B vaccine. The recommended MCV4 minimum interval is at least eight (8) weeks between dose one and dose two. If the first dose of MCV4 was administered on or after the 16th birthday, a second dose is not required.
Please submit proof of vaccinations to the clinic as soon as possible!
News from the Counselors
Schedule Change Requests:
Counselors will only make changes to schedules if there is an error on the schedule. For example, in the event that you were incorrectly or academically misplaced in a class that you have already fulfilled the requirement for or if there is a mistake on the plan (for example two English classes). Under no circumstances will requests for teacher changes be fulfilled.
