As we head into November, the month of gratitude, I am once again reminded of how grateful I am to be at Encanto Elementary. This month serves as a beautiful reminder to express how truly grateful we are for our incredible parents and families who constantly show up in support of all students and staff. Our school thrives because of your dedication—whether you are serving on a leadership committee, volunteering your time in our classrooms, or supporting our community school events and foundation fundraisers. Your active involvement creates a joyful, connected environment where our learners can truly flourish, and soar as Eagles. We thank you for being such vital partners in our school community.
📝 NOVEMBER TIPS FOR PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE
Key Questions to Ask
Is my child meeting grade-level expectations for learning and behavior?
What are my child's strongest and weakest subjects?
How does my child get along with peers socially?
What specific things can we practice or support at home?
If my child is struggling, what strategies have you already tried?
During the Conference
Start positive: Listen to the teacher's overview and ask for specific positive examples if they do not share any right away.
Stay calm and curious: Approach concerns as a team. If you hear unexpected news, take a short breath or pause before reacting.
Ask for translation of jargon: If the teacher uses terms or test scores you do not understand, ask them to explain.
Agree on next steps: Dedicate the final few minutes to writing down concrete goals for both home and school. Ask for the teacher's preferred contact method for future updates.

📆 October Recap
🦅 November at Encanto: A Month to Remember!
We kicked things off with our Encanto Soccer Tournament, coached by our teachers Ms. Stearmer and Mr. Sims, where our Eagles showed teamwork and school spirit! We also celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with colorful traditions, cultural pride, and a special spirit day. Our cafeteria transformed into a circus for the Sandi Coast Cafe Decorating Competition, bringing creativity and fun to lunchtime!
Our community partnerships made an incredible impact, too! Coastal Ninjas brought free Paddle for Peace enrichment to our 4th and 5th graders, while Sole Purpose partnered with us to provide brand-new tennis shoes to 167 students! We also welcomed Disguise Costumes as part of our Halloween celebrations, helping bring smiles and Halloween magic to our Eagles.
To top it all off, our school community came together for the annual Fun Run, organized by our Encanto Foundation and spearheaded by Guidance Assistant Isaac Santillan. We even had a little friendly competition when Community School Coach Joanna Voinov beat Isaac around the obstacle course! We wrapped up the festivities with our Trunk or Treat, filling our campus with costumes, candy, and community fun.
What a month! Thank you to our families, staff, volunteers, partners, and donors who continue to make Encanto such a special place to learn, grow, and soar together. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle!
