Hello from Principal Guditus
Hello Eddy Families,
Congratulations to Ms. Brekke's class on winning The Great Eddy Reading Challenge! They collectively read an impressive 186 books from May 1 to June 1. You can see the proud class and teacher below with the golden book trophy!
A huge thank you to Ms. Smith for a terrific field day, and thank you to our parent and caregiver volunteers and our staff for their help to organize and make the event a success. Students had fun, engaged in team building, and enjoyed the beautiful weather! As usual, we ended the day with tug of war and a visit from the Brewster Fire Department for a spray from the fire hose!
On Thursday, we had a visit from Nauset Regional HS Seniors, who visited their elementary and middle schools to walk through as proud graduates! We played pomp and circumstance for them, cheered them on, and wished them well! This fun tradition is great for our Eddy students to see older students who worked hard, were determined, and made it to high school graduation!
We continue to have lots of field trips now that the weather is good, including a trips to Pleasant Bay, Crosby Beach, the Grist Mill, and Boston. At school, we remind students that these field trips are a wonderful extension of our curriculum, and it takes hard work by teachers and fund raising by the PTO and donations from many people to make this happen! Students are expected to be Eddy READY on the field trips, including the bus rides. I have been so proud of our students this spring, as they have shown what it means to be Eddy READY in and out of school.
Finally, in case you missed it, there was a meeting of the Efficiency and Regionalization Study Team on Thursday evening, June 4. At that meeting, the team shared their findings from their year-long study. You can find more here: https://sites.google.com/nausetschools.org/efficiency-and-regionalization.
Here's to a great week of learning at Eddy!
Best,
Steve Guditus

Student Supply Ordering For Next School Year 26-27
We are partnering with 1st Day School Supplies to provide convenience for families for supply lists. This is entirely optional, and is offered solely as a convenience for families. If you would like to purchase items on the supply lists for next year, the deadline is July 1. All items are high quality (think: Crayola crayons, Ticonderoga pencils), and because the company buys in bulk, the cost is typically comparable or cheaper than going to Staples or Target or Amazon. Items ship directly to Eddy at no cost, and we will provide the supplies to students directly the first week of school. This is not a fundraiser, so all prices come directly from the company. If you prefer to purchase items on the supply list yourselves, that is not a problem at all.
A reminder that the deadline to order a supply box is July 1.

We celebrate NRHS Brewster Seniors, Class of 2026!
From Nurse Miller
This request is for students to come to school with appropriate footwear for playing at recess and during PE class. We have had many students with abrasions/injuries because they are wearing inappropriate footwear for active play at recess. If students plan to be active during recess, students should not wear flip-flops, crocs, or uggs if they plan to climb on the playground structure, play basketball or football, or play a game on the field. If students would like, they may certainly bring sneakers to change into for recess or PE, and then change back to other footwear. Thank you!
We are pleased to have partnered with 1st Place Spiritwear to offer Eddy Elementary spirit wear! There is a variety of gear, ranging from beanie caps to flip-flops, t-shirts to sweatshirts, and there are periodic sales as well. Apparel ships direct to you! You can check out their current sales and purchase direct by going to: https://1stplacespiritwear.com/schools/MA/Brewster/Eddy+Elementary+School
Green Card Winners
Congratulations to our green card winners the last two weeks: Caleb in third grade, Logan in fourth grade, and Madelyn in fifth grade. One student in each grade is picked each week to be recognized for demonstrating our school's core values of Respect, Empathy, Accountability, Determination, and Your Best. A job well done to all students who earned green cards this week!
Information below this line was previously shared and is still relevant.
Fifth Grade End of Year Events
Please mark your calendars: three fifth grade end-of-year events:
- Eddy Elementary School Fifth Grade Social, Thursday, June 18 from 5-7pm. Eddy students are invited to our Eddy cafeteria and gym for a class social with dancing, gym time, food, and beverages. We will be asking for parent/caregiver chaperones as we get closer to the date.
- Fifth Grade Moving Up Ceremony, Wednesday, June 24 @ 9am. Fifth grade students will be celebrated here at Eddy for completing elementary school as we wish them well on their next chapter in middle school!
Toys and fidgets at school
We have been having a lot of student conflict about fidgets and stuffed animals here at school this week. The number of fidgets and stuffed animals has grown in recent weeks and is becoming a distraction to learning. I am kindly requesting that you help with this by ensuring that students keep fidgets and stuffed animals at home. If your student needs to use a fidget at school, we have some here at school and your student can borrow one from their teacher.
Thank you for your help with this!
