Happy Friday!

Dear HMS Families,

We have had a busy week! Starting with the 5th grade listening post, community tour, ended one sports season, while another season began, walked 6th graders to HHS for the play, Unity Day, a student run Unity Day assembly, and today all of our 6th graders ran the mile. These are a few things that happened in between all the learning that took place.

We are looking forward to connecting with you all during conferences next week. Please don't forget to stop by our table and say hello!

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

With Kindness,

Bess & Sid

Student conversations

We had a situation today where students were talking about the video game Fortnite and the weapons involved in the game. The conversation evolved to discussing real-world Nerf Fortnite weapons. This conversation was overheard in a classroom, and was brought to our attention.

We take all reports seriously to ensure our school remains a safe and supportive environment for everyone. In light of this situation, we have reminded our students once again that they should not talk about video games or weapons of any kind while at school, as we never know who is listening or how a conversation might be interpreted.

We ask that you please take a moment to discuss this with your child at home and reinforce the importance of keeping school conversations appropriate and safe. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Lost & Found

Our lost and found will be out for families to look through during conferences next week. We will be donating all items at the end of the day on 10/30. Thank you!

Athletic Director's Corner

We were so excited to celebrate our fall sports athletes last night at our fall sports awards ceremony and to get our Winter I season started this week. Our boys basketball players were focused during tryouts and we are excited to have our teams prepare for their first games of the season. Our wrestling program had a great turnout for both our boys and girls teams and has been working extremely hard each day. If your child is interested in joining wrestling, there is still time to get signed up. There will be a winter I sports parent night on Monday 10/26 at 6:00 pm in the gym. We will start all together in the main gym and then each program will have an opportunity to meet individually to go over sport specific information.

Veterans Day Assembly

We are looking forward to honoring our Veterans during our annual Veterans Assembly on Tuesday, November 10th, 9:30-10:30 in the HMS gym. If you are a Veteran or you have a Veteran in your life, we would love to have you join us for this assembly. Our band will be playing and we have a guest speaker joining us. After the assembly, we invite our families and community members to join us in the commons for coffee and a treat. We look forward to hosting you.
