Mr. Covert's Musings
The first three inclement weather snow days will be traditional snow days where students are off of school. However, after those three days, any additional inclement weather closure days will be held as virtual instruction days. All virtual instruction snow days will be operating on a 2-hour delay bell schedule. To be prepared for this possibility, during the winter, students should be taking their devices and chargers home each day.
Linked below is a 1-pager about virtual snow days that also includes the bell schedule. Teachers will also have virtual snow day information located on their class Schoology pages.
Also, linked below is a video from BCPS regarding inclement weather decisions.
Marking Period 2 Attendance
Congrats to the 184 students who had perfect attendance for Marking Period 2!! What an impressive feat! That's over 15% of our students who were here every day and ready to learn. This week they received perfect attendance certificates in their homeroom. A big shoutout to those students and their families!
AP School Honor Roll
HHS was once again awarded the AP School Honor Roll designation. This recognition is given to schools who have students that earn high scores on AP exams while the AP program continues to increase participation schoolwide. Last year, 84.6% of our students who took an AP exam scored 3 or higher on an AP exam, and we had a 4.3% increase in participation in the AP program.
A big shoutout goes out to our students, AP teachers, and Ms. Houseknecht, our AP Coordinator!!
Timonium/Hereford Optimist Club Award
Congrats to Max Wodka (10th grade) and Hannah Lear (12th grade) for being recognized by the Timonium/Hereford Optimist Club as part of Youth Appreciation Week. Max and Hannah were recognized because of their character, academic success and contributions to our community. They are both stellar representatives of the phenomenal students we have at Hereford High!
Brillig - Now Accepting Submissions
Brillig is now accepting literary works for their SY25-26 edition. Brillig is a student-run literary magazine that produces a physical booklet each year filled with selected works of prose and poetry written by the students. Its pages decorated with photography, illustration, and digital artwork, Brillig displays the talented work of Hereford students across all mediums. In the Spring, Brillig hosts a launch party where featured students read aloud, celebrating the accomplishment of publishing their work. This launch party is open to all members of the Hereford community, so look out for more information in May.
