Family Feedback Needed! Family Feedback Needed!

Families, please take a few minutes to give us your feedback about AVID at Hopewell by Friday, April 25th. We thank you in advance for your time and input! https://forms.office.com/r/9NKCUkv8Cj

Updates from the Art Room - Ms. John Updates from the Art Room - Ms. John

The Art Festival is right around the corner! All families are welcome to come view work from Hopewell artists, as well as artwork from all the other schools in the district. Only around 10 artworks will be selected from each grade in Hopewell, so if your child's artwork is chosen, that is quite the accomplishment! Ms. John will notify you in the coming week if your child's artwork has been chosen for the show. Even if their artwork is not being displayed, you are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Map Testing Information Map Testing Information

MAP Testing begins Thursday, April 24th. MAP is a state-mandated standardized test administered annually in Missouri to students in grades 3-8 and high school. It assesses students' progress towards mastering the Missouri Learning Standards (MLS).

Take a look at the attached schedule for dates and times that your student(s) will test. Students will have opportunities to earn Soar Slips for being present on testing days, working hard and trying their best, and having respectful behavior during testing sessions. These soar slips will be entered into daily and weekly drawings for prizes. You can help by encouraging your student to get a good night's rest the night before their testing days and to eat a nutritious breakfast each day of testing. We will provide students with a snack each day that they test, but they can also bring a snack of choice and a water bottle from home for testing. Thank you in advance for your support!

Online Verification and Residency

Our annual online verification and residency process for returning students begins April 1. Using our quick and easy online application system, parents of returning students will verify their students' demographic, health, emergency contact and residency information.

April 1 also marks the opening day for enrollment in summer school programming for elementary and middle school students through the online verification and residency process. We want to make summer school enrollment seamless and easy for our families.

2025-2026 Enrollment & Summer School/Residency Verification Open NOW!

zoom_out_map

As the weather continues to warm up, we are seeing more students riding their bikes to and from school.

We kindly ask all drivers to be extra cautious, especially during drop-off and pick-up times.

  • Be alert for students on bikes, particularly at crosswalks and intersections.
  • Come to a complete stop at the stop sign.

By working together, we can help keep our school community safe. Thank you for your attention and cooperation!

For the safety of all students, we kindly ask that you wait for a staff member to open the door when dropping your child off in the morning. We have procedures in place to ensure a safe and smooth arrival for everyone.

This helps us maintain a safe and efficient process for all students.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe!

School Hours

Office: 8:00am - 5:00pm

School Hours: 9:10am - 4:10pm

Arrival/Breakfast: 8:50am - 9:10am

*Student may enter the building at 8:50am

Breakfast is served 8:50am - 9:10am.

Dismissal Starts: 4:00pm

Attendance, Absence, Lateness

Every child is urged to form excellent habits regarding attendance and promptness. A good start to the day helps foster a positive attitude. If your child is absent, please call the school office (816)359-4410 before 9:10am. If you fail to report the absence or lateness, our attendance messenger will call out at 10:00am to notify you that your child is not in school. This is a practice we’ve instituted to ensure the safe arrival of our children.

Absences or lateness may also be reported through your infinite campus parent portal.

Student Dismissal Plans, Transportation Day-to-Day Changes

If your student is going to have different transportation, a phone call or email from the parent/guardian must accompany the request. Please contact the office prior to 3:00pm to request a change in transportation. Changes to ride an alternative bus will only be issued for a change in daycare or for the safety of the student. If an alternative person is checking out your student, the person must have their ID scanned.

Students being picked up prior to the end of the school day, please arrive in the office prior to 3:30pm. Parent/Guardians who arrive after 3:50pm, will need to join the car rider line or wait until dismissal begins for their child to be called out of class.

If your child is a bus rider, it is imperative that we plan for any transportation changes prior to dismissal. Buses leave once they are loaded.

Image/Contact Information Opt-Out Designation

Throughout the school year, the district or school might take pictures/videos and release personal information about students. This could be to a local newspaper, Hopewell newsletters or on our school website. The district or school might also post pictures on social media (Facebook or Twitter). If you DO NOT want your child's image, please contact your child's teacher or the front office to fill out an Image/Contact Information OPT-OUT form.

PTA Clothing Center PTA Clothing Center

The Park Hill School District PTA runs a clothing center that provides free, gently used clothing, plus new socks and underwear to district students. Please visit our Facebook page or the PTA Clothing Center website for updated information.

The PTA Clothing Center serves all Park Hill School District students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The PTA asks you to bring proof that you are currently enrolled in the Park Hill district. This could be a student ID, dated letter from a principal or social worker, class schedule, or enrollment form. You can also show us the district portal with student information in it.

Donations are welcome at the Clothing Center anytime, year-round. There is a blue bin in front of the garage of the clothing center, which is at 8009 N Atkins, just south of the Gerner Family Early Education Center. Please make sure your donations are clean, in good condition and bagged in kitchen-sized bags that the volunteers can lift.

Soaring to Success

Each morning our Hawks recite the school pledge and throughout the day they receive positive feedback about following Hawk expectations. Students receive Soar Slips as an acknowledgement of following the expectations. Students can redeem their Soar Slips for different activities such as lunch with the teacher, game with the principals or going to read to a younger class. These activities are great ways for students to be role models and engage in meaningful interactions within their class and throughout the building. Often a class might be trying to reach a Soar Slip goal together to earn something for the whole class.

We believe it is our job to teach our children expectations just like we would teach the curriculum. Through Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), we have developed a framework that sets clear and consistent language throughout the building.

Each week, a Hawk from each class is recognized for being an outstanding Hawk and Soaring to Success! They receive a certificate and get their picture on a bulletin board in our main hall.

Birthday Favors

Approved Birthday Favors:

Students may bring a birthday treat or favor to school to share with their classmates, as long as they come from our list of treats that contain none of the eight (8) major allergens - milk, wheat, egg, soy, peanut, tree nut, fish, and shellfish.

Thank you for understanding that all classroom treats must come from this list because we do not have the staff capacity to check for allergens that could threaten the health of some students.
