A Message from the President
One of my favorite times of the year is quickly approaching. Our annual TASRO Conference is only five months away. That may sound like a long time, but I can promise you this: our team is already working feverishly to make this the most epic conference yet.
Whenever I talk with officers about TASRO, I inevitably hear the same questions: “Why should I join your organization?” and “Why should I attend your conference?” I’ve spent some time reflecting on that, and the answers are actually pretty simple.
First, every member of our board is still boots on the ground. We are actively doing the work, facing the same challenges, and navigating the same realities you are every day. Because of that, we are intentional about providing training that is relevant and practical, delivered by people who are still in the field, not just talking about it.
Secondly, we believe training should be about more than compliance. Our focus is on improving officer safety, sharpening skills, and sharing real-world strategies that you can actually use on campus and beyond.
What truly sets TASRO apart, though, is our culture. We don’t just call ourselves an organization, we consider ourselves a family. If you’re at our conference, you’re included in everything. There are no back-door gatherings or VIP-only events, because at TASRO, every member is a VIP.
And yes, our conferences are FUN. We recognize that you’re choosing to spend part of your summer with us. For some, this conference is the closest thing to a tropical vacation they will get. Our goal is to give every attendee an unforgettable experience, and this year we’ve worked hard to secure some very special events that we can’t wait to share.
We’re counting down the days until July. We hope you’ll join us and bring your friends. TASRO is better because of the people who show up and invest in the work we are committed to, Bridging the Gap Between Cops and Kids.
We can’t wait to see you there!
Sincerely,
Zach Duer

NEW WEBSITE >> EDUCATORS WELCOME!
We recognize the importance of the partnerships our SROs have with their team of school administrators. TASRO is striving to offer training opportunities that benefit both SROs and school staff. We have added a new EDUCATOR tab under the "About Us" portion of our website. We also have educator specific resources under our "Resources" tab on the website.
We encourage you to invite your administrators and other relevant school leaders to our Annual School Safety Conference!
Each month we will be sharing valuable updates and resources. Some of the resources may be great for you. Some of the resources may be great to share with school staff, parents, or students. If you have specific questions related to Texas Education Code or school related matters, please feel free to submit questions to our Educator Representative- Dr. Stephanie Duer (sduer@esc6.net).
