Summer Edition
Dear Woodland Acres Families,
Welcome to Woodland Acres Elementary, Home of the Wildcats! We are the smallest campus in GPISD, but nevertheless mighty! Our students here receive quality tier 1 education from experienced, knowledgeable educators. Due to our size, consistency and community connection, we are like a family here!
We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year! Our entire team is ready to make this an exceptional year of growth and achievement. This year, we embrace our motto: Game on, Level Up, and Unlock Excellence! Together, we will challenge ourselves, rise to new heights, and discover the incredible potential within each child.
Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gift—your child. We look forward to building lasting relationships and creating wonderful memories together.
Best regards,
Mrs. Rodriguez,

Meet the Teacher
Arrival Procedures
Students may arrive by walking, car drop-off, or school bus starting at 7:00 a.m. Upon arrival, all students will enter through the cafeteria doors. Please do not park in the staff parking lot to walk your child into the building. The car rider lane closes at 7:40 a.m., when the tardy bell rings.
If a student arrives after 7:40 a.m., a parent or adult must escort the student to the front office to sign them in and obtain a tardy slip. Excessive tardies can lead to disciplinary action, loss of attendance incentives and loss of student transfers. Please be mindful of the signage around the campus and streets. The flow of traffic for parents begins off of Sheffield Blvd, down Sarah's Lane and a right turn into the car rider lane.
If you're coming from Miles, you are not permitted to turn left into the car rider lane. There is a sign and the officer on duty can issue citations for violations.
First Day of School
Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast is served daily from 7:00-7:25 a.m. Lunch is served daily and menus can be accessed through the SchoolCafe website here: https://www.schoolcafe.com/menus
Lunch drop-offs or deliveries are not accepted. We encourage students to bring their lunch with them in the morning. Parents are invited to eat with students on designated dates throughout the year. These dates are provided monthly through the school newsletter.
Dismissal Procedures
Please help form the line from Sheffield Blvd and exit by turning right onto Miles St. (See map below.) All vehicles need to have a new car tag. Car tags are given during Meet the Teacher and additional tags can be purchased online via Retrak. (There's a link on our website to Revtrak.) Anytime someone comes to pick up a child without a car tag, they will be directed to the front office and a valid ID will be needed to release a student.
Lastly, any changes to your child’s dismissal routine should be directed to the front office before 2:00 pm and should you need to pick up a child early, the cutoff time is 2:30 pm.
Please be patient for first days of school; it takes a few weeks for students and staff to adjust to this procedure. You can help by practicing with your child their car tag number at home and reminding them to listen for their number while waiting in the gym.
Birthday Celebrations
- Parents are welcome to bring store-bought cupcakes and a beverage (juice or water) to celebrate your child’s birthday. Additional items cannot be accepted. Do not send any other food items such as pizza.
- Birthday cupcakes are provided at the end of the instructional day at 2:30 p.m.
- Please communicate with your child’s teacher beforehand. This will allow them time to prepare for your visit and to provide you with a class count or other important information.
- Birthday celebrations will not take place on STAAR, State or District Assessment testing days.
