Family Math Night

We’re looking forward to hosting the upcoming Hoover Family Math Night Event: Gellin’ with Geometry™! This engaging, hands-on event features explorations of 2- and 3-dimensional geometry—perfect for building visual, spatial, artistic, and STEAM skills organised into fun 9 stations. Each station has Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced activities to engage all students. All activities are aligned to K-4 Math standards.

The Gellin’ with Geometry Family Math Night includes 9 hands-on stations designed to build visual, spatial, and problem-solving skills for students and families!

Stations Include:

• 3-D Shapes – Use your senses to explore and connect 2-D and 3-D geometry.

• Fraction Action – Explore beginning fraction concepts using a kid-favorite: geoboards!

• Origami – Create fun origami pieces to take home.

• Symmetry – Use reflection mirrors and pattern blocks to discover lines of symmetry.

• Area – Play with tiles, dice, and pipe cleaners to develop area measurement concepts.

• Geometry Bingo – Strengthen geometry vocabulary through a fun game of bingo.

• Structures – Build with straws and discover the strongest geometric shape.

• Tangrams – Develop persistence and spatial reasoning with engaging puzzles.

• Tessellations – Help create a collaborative geometry art project.

The event is scheduled from 6:30-8:00 PM. Families will begin arriving at 6:30 PM. The event is expected to run approximately 1½ hours, depending on family participation and flow.

Yes. An all-star team of Hoover teachers have volunteered to support students and families at each station.

No problem. Get here when you can. You may not be able to complete all of the activities, but you will still have fun!
