CELEBRATE WITH US! CELEBRATE WITH US!

On Friday morning, we got to celebrate several students that were nominated by classmates and teachers for displaying our CKH word of the month for September - Empathy! We are so proud of these students, and we loved being able to celebrate with their families! We also want to give a big shoutout to our school nurse, Sunni Matthews, and our Band Director, Kelly Wolfe, who were both nominated by coworkers for their empathy towards others.

SmileSafe -

The SmileSafe Promise - Lifetouch plays a critical role in the recovery of missing children. We take this job to heart; we provide every child we photograph a SmileSafe Card for their family, and we store an image that can be used in the event a child goes missing.

SMS is excited about our district's partnership with Project Adam and Arkansas Children's Hospital. We had several representatives walk through our building last week to help us begin our journey to becoming a Heart Safe school.

CKH WORD OF THE MONTH ~ SELF-DIRECT CKH WORD OF THE MONTH ~ SELF-DIRECT

zoom_out_map

What does it mean to Self-Direct?

Self-Direction is the ability and learned skill to cast a vision of future goals and then take intentional steps toward who, where, and what we want to be. Instead of focusing on things to control or avoid, we emphasize our responsibility to make positive choices related to our emotions, attitudes, and actions.

Why focus on self-direction?

Self-direction strengthens relationships. Self-direction helps to grow social skills and develop meaningful, positive relationships with others.

Self-direction in action:

Practice goal setting and action planning. When we establish goals and develop action plans, we learn to take intentional steps to successfully achieve goals.
