EMBRACING TRUE FORTITUDE ISSUE #12 EMBRACING TRUE FORTITUDE ISSUE #12

This week, our community demonstrated remarkable fortitude in both academics and extracurriculars. Students pushed forward with determination, even when challenges arose. Teachers continued to guide and motivate them toward excellence. Families provided steady encouragement that helped students stay focused. Together, we proved that fortitude is the strength that moves Tiger Country forward.

A Reflection from Quarter One

As I look back on the first quarter of the school year, I am both proud and grateful for the energy our community brings to the campus each day. The halls are alive with enthusiasm as students connect with their friends, share their successes and challenges with teachers, and find their place in the school community. The first quarter is always a time of learning and adjusting to new routines. Looking back, I would say we are doing well.

Under new leadership, our school community has shown tremendous focus and resilience. We successfully completed our benchmark and PSAT testing, celebrated cultural diversity and school pride, and raised awareness about the importance of mental health and anti-bullying practices. We began our athletic season with exciting victories, and we launched both our after school and Saturday School programs to further support student success.

Now, as we move into the second quarter, we continue our focus on student performance with increased rigor. Students have had time to learn school routines and expectations, and it is time to apply those lessons with focus and consistency. Our commitment to maintaining a safe and structured environment remains a priority so that every classroom continues to be a space where students can think, create, and grow. (This is a great time to review the Student Handbook with your student.)

I encouraged families to talk with their students about their successes and challenges during the first quarter. Remember that we offer tutoring and other academic support to help students reach their potential. For those who are achieving academic success, the second quarter provides excellent opportunities to explore clubs, athletics, or service learning activities.

Again, I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and remain excited about what we will accomplish this quarter. I am confident that we will build on the momentum we have currently to make the rest of the year even stronger!

Thank you for partnering with us!

Social Studies: AP Government Field Trip to US Capitol

With the government shutdown ending Wednesday night, our AP Government students were able to visit the U.S. Capitol on Thursday for an exciting, hands-on experience. They participated in Vote, an interactive simulation where they assumed the roles of members of Congress to debate and decide whether to approve a measure. After the simulation, students toured the historic building, exploring the old Supreme Court chamber, House rooms, and admiring the many statues and paintings that capture the history of our nation.
