Principal's Weekly Update
Week of October 28 - November 1
Administrator's Message 🐾
Wildcat Families,
We had a wonderful time on Friday night at the Glow Dance - huge THANK YOU to our PTO, parent volunteers, and leadership students for making it happen!
This grading period is coming to a close at the end of this week, and progress reports will be available in Aeries next week. Please continue to monitor your child's grades regularly, encouraging them to work with their teachers and to attend tutoring. Our tutoring schedule is posted weekly in this newsletter - scroll to see this week's schedule.
Our leadership students designed a fun spirit week, see the themes below, and show your school spirit!
In preparation for Halloween, please keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Costumes need to be comfortable and safe. Costumes should not be offensive or frightening in any way and follow District dress code (BP5132). Also, remember no weapons, inflatables, full face masks or fake blood are allowed.

Celebrating Our Community’s Diversity
The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.
Dia de los Muertos is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. The holiday came to be from a mixture of the Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess, Mictecacihuatl, the “lady of the dead”. Family members prepare for several weeks in advance for the tradition by creating altars, decorating burial sites, and cooking specific Day of the Dead food. There is festive music and definitely no crying or grieving. This is a reflective and lively get-together honoring the deceased back to celebrate life and enjoy all the human things again.
November 1, 2024, is Diwali (Festival of Lights) or Dipawali. This is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians. Over the centuries, Diwali has become a national festival that's also enjoyed by non-Hindu communities.

Counseling Presentations - 7th Grade
Our school counselor, Ms. Escobar, met with 7th grade students last Friday during their history class. During hwe presentation, students had the opportunity to complete a personal learning plan in order to review their 1st progress and current grades. Students also chose actions they are willing to take in order to maintain their grades or improve them. We encourage you to review your student's personal learning plan with them. Here you may review a blank personal learning plan.
During the class visit, she also reviewed how she can support them as their School Counselor, organizational skills, self-care, FSUSD graduation & A-G requirements (College Entrance requirements to apply to a CSU or UC College) and more. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Escobar at victoriae@fsusd.org or (707) 862-7448.
