Dear Jane Ryan Families,

What a fantastic first full week of school it has been at Jane Ryan! It has been wonderful to see our students settling into their classrooms, reconnecting with friends, building relationships with their teachers, and getting back into the routines that make our school such a special place. There has been so much positive energy throughout the building, and we could not have asked for a better start to the school year.

I also want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our families who joined us for Back to School Night last evening. We truly appreciate you taking the time to visit classrooms, meet with teachers and specialists, and learn more about what your children will be experiencing this year. The partnership between our families and staff is such an important part of our students' success, and it was great to see so many of you in the building.

The fun continues tonight with our Father’s Club Back to School BBQ! I hope to see many of you there as we come together as a community to celebrate the start of another great year at Jane Ryan. It is always a terrific evening for our students and families to reconnect, meet new friends, and enjoy some time together outside of the school day.

As we head into the long Labor Day weekend, I hope everyone has an opportunity to relax, recharge, and enjoy some well-deserved time with family and friends. After such a busy and exciting first full week, I know our students, and our staff, have certainly earned it.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for helping us get the school year off to such a positive start. I am looking forward to all that lies ahead for our Jane Ryan community.

Have a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!

Warmly,
Pat Horan
Principal

We’re excited to introduce “Live From the Lion’s Den”, our new school-wide show, hosted by Miss Quinn and Mrs. Johnson. The show will have monthly episodes that celebrate our students, staff, and the amazing things happening at Jane Ryan! Each month, we will spotlight our school focus, recognize members of our school community, and share stories that make our Lion community special. Be sure to tune in and see what’s happening on Live From the Lion’s Den!

September School Focus: Emotional Intelligence — Empathy

We are kicking off the school year by focusing on Emotional Intelligence, with a special emphasis on empathy. Throughout September, students will learn what it means to recognize and understand the feelings of others, see things from another person’s perspective, and respond with kindness and compassion. As Lions, we will practice putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes and looking for ways to make others feel seen, heard, valued, and supported. Together, we can build a school community where empathy helps us become stronger—because we truly are better together!

Grades 2–5 enjoyed a fun library orientation featuring a secret code scavenger hunt! Students explored the different genre sections of our library while learning how books are organized and where to find their favorite types of stories.
