Temple Athletics Newsletter
From The Nest
Edition 8: November 29, 2022
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, celebrating the Holiday weekend with friends and family. We have so much to be thankful for here at Temple University, especially the hard work of our student-athletes and the dedication of our amazing staff.
TODAY IS DAY OF GIVING!!
Today, November 29th, is the National Day of Giving. In that light, we are asking all our alumni, donors, fans, and staff to considering giving or adding an extra sprinkle to their support of Temple Athletics. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated and with your help we can continue to provide a positive experience for our student-athletes. Many thanks and ‘tis the season to be an Owl!

SPORTS ROUNDUP
Football celebrated its Senior Day on Saturday with a thrilling record-setting game against East Carolina, but unfortunately, we came up on the short end with a 49-46 loss to East Carolina in our season finale. Freshman QB EJ Warner shined, breaking his own school records for passing yards (527) and completions (45) and setting a career high with five touchdown passes. He finished the year with 3,028 passing yards, which ranks second in school history.
Men’s and women’s basketball posted wins to cap the holiday weekend. The men defeated Drexel at the Liacouras Center, 73-61, while the women topped Bucknell, 77-62, for Coach Richardson’s first road victory.
Women’s Volleyball ended the 2022 season with losses at Cincinnati and East Carolina.
THANK YOU SENIORS!
Saturday’s Football game was not only Senior Day for our student-athletes, but also the final Senior Day for our fall sports teams. At the game, besides recognizing our senior student-athletes, we also recognized the senior members of our support staff areas. These young men and women have worked hard behind the scenes on behalf of Temple Athletics.

HOOPS AND HEELS
The first Hoops and Heels networking event was held on Nov. 20. This purpose of this new organization is to give women a chance to network while supporting the Owls women's basketball team. If you are interested in becoming a member reach out to women’s basketball’s director of player development Talisa Samano (Talisa.Samano@temple.edu).
SPECIAL THANKS TO THE MERVES FAMILY
A special thanks to Audrey Merves and her family for their continued support of the Stanley Merves Leadership Academy. It was great having meet with our student-athletes currently in the program at the Vanderbilt men’s basketball game. We truly appreciate their generous support of Temple University and our student-athletes.
TEMPLE EXPERIENCE
At our Football home game against Cincinnati on Nov. 19, we hosted the Philadelphia chapter of the organization, 100 Black Men. The organization, whose mission is to improve the quality of life and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all African Americans, brought 100 mentees to the game. Besides enjoying the game, the attendees participated in a tour of Lincoln Financial Field and a pregame tailgate.
On Saturday, we will welcome residents of Norristown to the Liacouras Center to take part in the Temple Experience while watching our men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader.
