A Note from Dr. Compton

Happy Sunday, Pride!

It’s hard to believe, but the first day of school is just around the corner . . .this Thursday! Our hallways have been far too quiet without our students, and we’re beyond excited to welcome back the laughter, learning, and energy that only our Lions can bring.

Whether you're returning for another great year or joining us for the first time, welcome. We are truly grateful that you’ve chosen to be part of the Riverwalk Academy family. Each of you plays an important role in our community, and we’re honored to partner with you on your child’s educational journey.

Over the past few weeks, our team has been working hard to prepare for the new year, setting up classrooms, planning engaging learning experiences, and making sure every detail is in place for a smooth and joyful start.

I do want to ask for your help with something as we head into two very important days: Meet the Teacher on Tuesday and the first day of school on Thursday. Due to the forecasted heat and the number of families we’re expecting, we’ve asked PTO to press pause on our traditional Back-to-School Bash.

Both days will bring large crowds, lots of cars, and new traffic patterns, especially with the addition of our new building and entrance/exit. Because of this, we’re asking for an extra dose of patience and flexibility from everyone. A little grace can go a long way in making these moments less stressful for you and your family, those around you, and our staff.

Speaking of our PTO, they are truly outstanding. Their ongoing support and generosity make a meaningful impact on both our staff and our entire school community. We encourage you to take a moment to learn more about all the incredible things they do by visiting their website. You can also stay in the loop by joining their Remind group. Back-to-School Meet & Greet!

Join us at our elementary and upper school campuses to meet our amazing staff and pick up important items like car tags, Lions Pride info, and more — everything you need to kick off the school year!

We can’t wait to see you there!

We will not have any food trucks or games at Meet the Teacher but stayed tuned because there will be a Back to School Bash once we get the school year rolling! More info coming soon for that!

*K–5th families: Don’t forget to bring your students’ supplies!

*9th graders (and new to Riverwalk high school students), makes sure you come so you can pick up your class shirts.

*Middle and High School families, If you are unable to attend our Meet the Teacher and need to get your students' schedule, swing by the upper school MPR on Wednesday to pick it up!
