Dear Navin Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I hope your summer has been filled with opportunities to relax, make memories, and enjoy time together. Whether you're returning to Navin or joining us for the first time, we're excited to welcome you to another great year of learning and growth.

This newsletter is designed to help you prepare for the start of school by gathering many of the important back-to-school details in one place. If you were at Navin last year, most of this will be familiar, so feel free to skim. For those new to Navin, we've tried to include answers to many of our frequently asked questions to help you feel confident starting the year.

As we get closer to the first day, we'll continue to share additional reminders and updates, so be sure to watch your email and follow along on our website and social media.

We can't wait to welcome our Monarchs back to the building soon. It's going to be a fantastic year!

Your Proud Navin Principal,

Katie Van Schoyck (Ms. Van)

Please note: If you use the PowerSchool app, you'll need to log in through a web browser on your computer or mobile device to complete the required forms, as they are not available in the app.

In addition to the online forms, every family must complete a Student Dismissal Form for each child. You may print the form using the link below or pick up a copy at Open House. Completed forms can be returned at Open House or any time before the first day of school.

Additional forms are available on the Navin website, including:

πŸ‘ͺ Arrival Procedures for the First Days of School πŸ‘ͺ Arrival Procedures for the First Days of School

The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. During the first few days of school, we'll have extra staff members throughout the building to greet students, answer questions, and help everyone find their classrooms. Whether your child arrives by bus, car, or on foot, we'll make sure they get where they need to be!

To help students transition smoothly, families are welcome to walk their child to the classroom on the following days:

  • Grades 1-4: Your child's staggered start day only.
  • Alt-K & Kindergarten: Tuesday, August 25 (their first full day).

Beginning with the next school day, we ask that families say goodbye at the exterior entrance and allow students to walk to their classrooms independently.
  • Grades 1-4: Beginning Monday, August 24
  • Alt-K & Kindergarten: Beginning Friday, August 22

This routine helps us welcome students efficiently, secure the building as quickly as possible, and build students' confidence and independence. Thank you for partnering with us to keep Navin a safe and welcoming place for everyone!

πŸ₯ͺ Cafeteria Corner πŸ₯ͺ Cafeteria Corner

Breakfast Elementary: $2.25

Reduced Breakfast: $.00

Lunch Elementary: $3.50 (new price)

Reduced Lunch: $.00
Milk Purchased by itself $0.75

Ala Carte Items: Unless parents request otherwise, students are permitted to use money on their account to buy additional entrees items and snacks offered in the cafeteria. Students who pack their lunch may use the money on their account for milk purchases.

Free & Reduced Applications:

Free and Reduced Price Meals are available to families who believe they may qualify. If your family chooses to apply, please complete a "Free and Reduced Meal Price Application Form" available on PaySchools Central. The forms are available in many different languages.

Pre-Payment Options:

We encourage families to prepay student meal accounts through PaySchools Central. Prepaying helps lunch lines move more efficiently, gives students more time to enjoy their lunch and recess, and eliminates the need to send cash to school each day. To set up your PaySchools Central account and prepay meals, please visit the payschoolscentral.com and follow these instructions for account set-up.

πŸš— Student Drop-off/Pick-up/Walker Procedures πŸš— Student Drop-off/Pick-up/Walker Procedures

Our arrival and dismissal procedures remain the same as last school year. Thank you for helping us keep students safe by following these expectations.

Morning Drop-Off

  • Enter the car line by driving through the Scott Farms neighborhood and turning left into the Navin parking lot from Scott Farms Blvd. This prevents traffic from backing up onto County Home Road.
  • Pull forward as directed to keep the line moving.
  • Students should exit on the sidewalk side of the vehicle only.
  • Please remain in your vehicle during drop-off. We encourage students to practice entering and exiting the vehicle independently before the first day of school. If your child requires assistance, please park and walk them to the building.

Afternoon Pick-Up

  • Follow the same traffic pattern by driving through Scott Farms and turning left into the Navin parking lot from Scott Farms Blvd.
  • Remain in your vehicle while staff escort students to their cars. If your child needs help buckling or getting settled, please park in a designated parking space rather than using the car rider line.
  • Once your child is safely in the vehicle, wait for the cars ahead of you to begin moving. Please do not pull around other vehicles in the line.

Walkers

  • Walkers will be dismissed through the designated walker exit with staff supervision.

  • If your child needs to cross traffic after leaving school, please meet them and cross together.

Thank you for your patience during the first few weeks of school. Following these procedures helps keep our arrival and dismissal safe and efficient for everyone.

Our Navin PTO plays an important role in helping make our school a special place for students and staff. Through fundraising, volunteering, and community partnerships, the PTO supports classroom needs and makes many of our favorite events possible, including Book Fairs, the Color Run, Family Events, and Field Day.

Whether you're looking to volunteer, stay informed, or simply keep up with upcoming events, we encourage you to follow the Navin PTO Facebook page. It's a great way to stay connected throughout the school year. Information about this year's PTO officers and meeting dates will be shared as they become available.

πŸ’» Student Password Reset Notice πŸ’» Student Password Reset Notice

We've included the district's password information below for your reference. There's no need to start practicing passwords at home. Our teachers will help students learn and use them as part of the school day.

On the evening of August 9, 2026 the Technology Department will reset ALL STUDENT PASSWORDS from Grades Alt-K through 12. This is done in preparation for the start of school. Please note that Monday morning your child will not be able to login with their old password (if they had changed it).

After the password reset, students will login with their new password in the following format:

K-6 Student β€œNEW” password format:

  • first initial, last initial, student number, the letter m, 26, !

    • Example: John Smith with a Student Number 12345

      • password would be - js12345m26!

  • **Please note that all letters are lowercase.

NOTE

  • If your child does not know their student number, it can be found on the old β€œParent Portal” page that can be found on the Resource Links. Also, this is the same number your child uses in the lunch line.

    • Contact your building’s office if you have any issues with finding your child’s student number.

PLEASE NOTE: At this time, students are able to login with the above Password Format only. We will be sending out instructions later on how to change/customize their password similar to last year.
