A Great Start to the New School Year!
Principal's Message
It was wonderful to see so many parents attend our annual Back-to-School Night as we begin the 2026–2027 school year. As I mentioned that evening, I am truly excited to be part of the Chester School Community and to work alongside you and your children. The start of a new school year brings lots of energy and excitement to Bragg School. It has been wonderful to see our students settling into their classrooms, building friendships, and embracing the routines and expectations that help make our school a positive place to learn and grow. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to make this a successful year for every child.
As we move into October, there is much to look forward to at Bragg School. We will continue to focus on building a strong school community through our Leader in Me work, with an emphasis on student leadership, responsibility, and making positive choices. October is also a busy month filled with learning opportunities, school activities, and special events for our students. I encourage you to take some time to review the information in this newsletter so you can stay up to date on what is happening throughout the month. Thank you for being an important part of the Bragg School community. I look forward to a wonderful October and to continuing our partnership throughout the school year!
Leader in Me – September Reflection & October Focus
September was a great start to our second year of Leader in Me at Bragg School! Throughout the month, students and staff focused on establishing positive routines, building relationships, and understanding what it means to be a responsible and respectful leader. During our first Pack Meeting, we reviewed our Expectations for the School Year and emphasized that being a leader means making good choices, following school rules, and taking responsibility for our actions. Students were reminded of our Bragg School Code of Conduct: Respect people and property, keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself, use appropriate language, and be courteous and speak kindly. We also introduced TAG—Tell someone what they are doing to bother you, Ask them to stop, and Go tell an adult if they do not. Students practiced using “I Messages,” such as “I feel…” and “I don’t like it when…” to communicate respectfully. We reminded students that their actions matter and that being responsible and proactive means making positive choices, walking or moving away from a situation when appropriate, and seeking help from an adult when needed.
As we move into October, we will continue to build on these leadership skills with our theme, “Leaders of the P.A.C.K.” Students will be encouraged to demonstrate a P – Positive Attitude, A – Act with Integrity, C – Collaborate with and Consider Others, and K – Kindness and Respect for Others. Throughout the month, we will look to recognize students who demonstrate these qualities and remind everyone that each of us plays an important role in making Bragg School a positive, respectful, and welcoming place to learn.

Bragg School Mural
We are excited to begin an amazing new project at Bragg School: the creation of a school mural that will reflect the spirit and sense of community that make Bragg such a special place! On October 15 at 2:00 p.m., artist Caren Olmsted will join us for a special assembly to introduce our students to the mural project. During this time, she will share examples of her past artwork projects and get everyone excited about the creative work ahead. Students will have additional opportunities to learn about the project during their art classes, where they will begin developing ideas and exploring possibilities for the mural. This will be a schoolwide and community project, with students and staff from all grade levels at Bragg along with members of our community having opportunities to contribute ideas and help shape the final design. The actual painting at school is planned for February through early March, with the completed mural scheduled to be installed during Spring Break. We are looking forward to this project and creating something that will be a lasting part of our school community. A special thank you goes to our Education Foundation and PTO for their tremendous generosity and support in making this exciting project possible!
