Westmoor Weekly 11/21/2025
November 21, 2025
A Note from Principal Eck
Dear Westmoor Families,
On Wednesday, we celebrated our Trimester 1 success with a fun and spirited school-wide assembly! We recognized classrooms for their outstanding achievements and celebrated students who set new fitness records, as well as students who received Paws for Character Awards for courage and honesty.
To cap off the excitement, we had our staff vs. student game! The first challenge was a hula hoop pass, where both teams worked hard to move the hoop down the line by stepping through it one by one without letting go of the person next to them. Next came a fast-paced cone relay, with players moving the cone from one end of the gym to the other, hopping with it between their legs! The energy was high, the cheering was loud, and in the end… the students came out on top!
Our staff would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for our students and their families. The partnership we share with you is truly valued, and we do not take it for granted. We wish you a joyful and restful holiday filled with quality time spent with loved ones.
The next issue of the Westmoor Weekly will arrive on December 5th. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on December 1st.

WINTER SING - DECEMBER 5 (1st THROUGH 4th)
Dear Westmoor Families,
We have been working very hard this winter in art and music to create a performance for you. This year’s program is on Friday, December 5, and will feature students’ art, singing, dancing, and instruments.
Please send your child to school dressed for the concert on Dec. 5, and when they’re done performing they will be free to change into more comfortable clothes for the rest of the day.
The doors will open fifteen minutes before each performance. Enjoy the music and look for your child’s artwork displayed after! If you are unable to attend, the performance will be live-streamed on our YouTube channel.

PAWS for Character Awards
Each month, our staff members nominate students who consistently demonstrate the featured character trait of the month. These students are celebrated with a certificate and a special photo alongside our very own Buddy the Bulldog! In addition, they are recognized during our end-of-trimester assemblies as we honor their positive contributions to our school community.
COGNITIVE ABILITIES TEST (CogAT) FOR 3rd & 5th
Students in 3rd and 5th grades will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) during the week of December 8. The assessment includes three sections: verbal, nonverbal, and quantitative. No special preparation is needed. As always, we simply encourage families to ensure students get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast. Click here to learn more about the test.
LOST AND FOUND
The lost and found continues to grow. PLEASE make sure your students name is on their jackets, hats, sweatshirts!
Share a picture with us!
We’re excited to showcase the special moments and achievements of our students and their families. Whether it’s a holiday, cultural tradition, a child’s milestone like riding a bike without training wheels, a big win at a soccer game, welcoming a new pet, or anything else that makes you proud — we’d love to feature it! Here is the link to share a photo and brief description.

Rotary of Northbrook Coat Drive
The temperatures are dropping, and it’s warm coat weather. For more than a decade, the Rotary of Northbrook has been helping our communities stay warm during the winter with its annual "Coat Off Your Back" collection drive. The coat drive will provide winter coats for infants, children, teens, and adults via multiple outlets serving people in need, from the homeless to veterans, displaced families, and the elderly. You can drop off your donation at the donation bin located at the front of our school.
Concert & Coat Drive
School Districts 27, 28, and 30 are partnering with Cradles to Crayons for a charity coat drive, which will run through December 12, 2025. New and gently used coats, boots, and accessories will be accepted (in sizes 0-3 Months to Adult Medium). Donation boxes can be found at Northbrook Junior High and the Northbrook Park District. There will be a FREE community orchestra concert featuring all three school districts on Friday, Dec. 12 at 6pm at Wood Oaks Junior High.
