From Mr. Smith: October 31st we will be holding our book character parade. Your child's teacher should have already reached out to you about their classroom's book and character plan. We cannot wait to see everyone's book character celebrated on this day. Many have asked, but they may NOT wear their halloween costumes on this day. This day is strictly reserved for our book characters only.
LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED TUESDAY for character parade prep- we can return books but we will not be able to check out by class.
Eating lunch with your child
- check in AND out with the front office
- no background check required, but the school does need to keep track of who is and is not in the building
- you may only sit with your child, their friends may not eat with you at the visitors tables
- you cannot supply food to other children that are not your own
- please encourage your children to continue to follow school rules while you are visiting
These are rules across campus to keep all children safe, and must be followed by all visitors.

K4A Self selecting texts
K5C/F making predictions and inferences
K2biv Identifying sight words
K2E Handwriting
During both whole and small group instruction we will discuss using our powers observation to make predictions and inferences applicable to reading and writing. We will connect this skill back to science as it is something we have already talked about when exploring the natural world.
We are continuing to work in our handwriting books, moving into different letter strokes this week.
TEKS we will focus on this week:
K.8 Create & Draw conclusions from real-object & picture graphs
Linking in some inferencing to math, we will begging to graph and read graphs, drawing conclusions about data and making inferences on what we think data trends will be.
In addition, we are working on the skill of rote counting forwards and backwards to 30, with and without objects for representation, and continuing to
practice skip counting by 10.
TEKS we will focus on this week:
K.2A&C Ask questions about objects observed in the natural world.
K.2A-E Ability to ask questions and seek answers.
We will connect science to our theme AND our 50th day celebration this week by exploring popular activities and objects from the 1950’s to build vocabulary and background knowledge, and then by investigating the life cycle of trees and why leaves change color.
Optional project: go on a walk around the neighborhood with your child. Collect a ziplock bag full of leaves for us to explore in class this week.
TEKS we will focus on this week:
K.3C Identify and explore geographic tools
We will do some great connecting crafts and writing to determine how to read and make simple maps, understand how neighborhoods are set up, and more!
Kindergarten Specials

Dress Code
Please note that outerwear, jewelry, and accessories worn to school are the responsibility of your child to keep up with. We will do our best to give reminders and monitor the location of these items as they are taken off, and we do give reminders that everything needs to be stored in backpacks if it is not on, but students should be aware of guidelines from parents as well. Any items brought to school do have the chance of being left at school, lost, or taken home by others if guidelines are not followed.
