Welcome Back from PJHS Staff!
Message From the Principal/Assistant Principal's Desk
Hello PJHS Families!
Welcome to an exciting new school year at PJHS! We are committed to creating a school community where students feel cared for, inspired to grow academically, and encouraged to demonstrate the principles of our vision, Go Big Blue! Each month we will be highlighting a member of our staff and student body in our recognition program that really embodies these values of our vision. These core values include:
*Begin with goals
*Inspire with empathy
*Grow as a critical thinker
*Build Perseverance
*Lead with Integrity
*Unite through respect
*Encourage effective communication
We look forward in working to together as a school community to inspire students to achieve these principles in school and beyond.
Each week you will receive this parent newsletter and I encourage you to take a moment to review all the information and any important updates. Throughout the year you will also find information about our PTO, including opportunities for involvement, which plays an essential role in building strong connections between home and school.
It was a great first couple of days welcoming students back to school. This week they have received our handbook and have gone over school/classroom expectations with teachers and administration.
Please note that our very first PBIS event, "Popsicles in the Park", will be held during school on August 29th at the end of the day. It is a great way to start the year off celebrating a fun event. This coming week we will also have our safety drills on August 27th. We will be having our Fire Drill in the morning and our Severe Weather Drill in the afternoon. Furthermore, on August 26th will also be PJHS open house from 6-7:30pm. We look forward to seeing all families.
Additionally, please note that we have new staff that have joined PJHS this year. I would like to give a Blue Devil welcome to Mr. Dennis Nelson (7th and 8th grade ELA teacher), Mr. Carmen Trotta (Jr High and High School Ag teacher), Ms. Morgan Fukar (P.E. teacher), Mrs. Stephanie Worman (Special Education Teacher), Mrs. Becky Johnson (Paraprofessional) and Ms.Ellinger (Paraprofessional). Please join us in making them feel welcomed to Peotone CUSD 207U. Not necessarily new to our school or district, but we would like to welcome back Mr. Zach Carpenter and thank him for his service of our country.
Other Reminders:
If you are dropping off any items for your child:
- The exterior door closest to the buzzer will be unlocked. You may enter using this door without needing to be buzzed in.
- There is a table set up on the right to place items being dropped off for your child. Please write their first and last name, and grade level on a sticky note and leave the item on the table.
If you are entering the building for any reason during the school day, you will need your ID to scan in through our Raptor system.
Lastly, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we can make this year one of meaningful learning, joyful celebrations, and leadership growth for every child. Let us keep the momentum going by spreading kindness to ourselves and others, learning with passion, and leading with integrity.
Thank you!
