Rocky Point Weekly Update
February 23rd-27th
Hello Rocky Point Families
We highly appreciate families for coming and learning with us during our math and science event this past Thursday afternoon. We all enjoyed interacting with families! This upcoming week we will send home steps to do two of our activities at home, one for science & one for math, as our way of letting you know we missed those families that were not able to make it and for you to have learning fun at home. Please note the end of our 3rd quarter is only 2 weeks away and students should strive to turn in all missing assignments in order for their grades to reflect their knowledge and efforts.
Our quote for the week is from Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass discovered that learning to read was a tool for liberation, cultivated his intellect and a means to overcome historic restrictions on education to empower minds. Have a great week everyone!
Our quote for the week in honor of CTE week and Black History Month: "Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others” by Booker T. Washington. Booker T. Washington was the founder of Tuskegee Institute and championed Career and Technical Education (CTE) as the essential path for Black economic progress, industrial skill, and self-reliance during the post-Reconstruction era. His philosophy focused on vocational training, dignified labor, and creating economic value to overcome racial prejudice.

Let’s keep reading!

Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge Continues
Our can pop tab challenge is continuing! Please consider saving pop tabs and sending them in with your child as a part of a community service project in which our school is collecting pop tabs from cans for the remainder of the school year to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. Collecting can pop tabs supports the operating costs of providing a home away from home for families with sick children. Please begin collecting and sending in tabs from soda, food and pet food cans! Let’s work together to collect as many pop tabs as possible!
