Principal's Message
Dear Memorial Families and Caregivers:
April has almost arrived, bringing with it the excitement of spring and the energy of a busy season ahead! Our scholars have been working hard, and MCAS testing is now underway. Thanks to our dedicated instructional leaders, teachers, and support staff who have worked tirelessly to prepare our students, we know they are ready to demonstrate their learning with confidence. We appreciate your partnership in ensuring students get plenty of rest, arrive on time, and approach testing days with a positive mindset.
With spring comes a renewed sense of growth, and we are already planning for the 2025-2026 school year. As part of this important process, we invite families to share any input regarding classroom placement. While we do not take specific teacher requests, we value insights about your child’s learning style and needs. All parent input emails are due by April 2nd, as our teams will begin the thoughtful process of creating balanced classroom communities that foster academic and social-emotional growth.
In addition, although spring parent-teacher conferences are optional, they also provide a valuable opportunity to learn about your child's progress. . Your child’s teacher has already shared information about this, so please check your email or reach out directly if you’d like to schedule a conversation about your child’s progress.
Finally, spring break is just around the corner, providing a wonderful opportunity for students and families to recharge before the final stretch of the school year. We hope you enjoy time together, whether traveling, exploring the outdoors, or simply relaxing at home.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Memorial Elementary is a special place because of the dedication of our students, staff, and families. Wishing you all a fantastic start to spring!
Warm regards,
Troy
School Attendance
We are entering the final 12 weeks of the school year! As we approach the finish line, we want to take a moment to stress the importance of consistent attendance and arriving on time each day.
These last weeks of school are critical—not just for academic progress, but also for strengthening friendships, building confidence, and preparing for a successful transition to the next grade level. Every lesson, discussion, and activity plays a role in helping students finish the year strong.
I understand that mornings can be hectic, and unexpected challenges arise. Please know that we see and appreciate all the effort you put into getting your child to school each day. At the same time, I encourage all families to make school attendance a top priority in these final weeks.
Here’s why it matters:
✅ Academic Growth – Each day of instruction builds on the last. Missing even a few days can make it harder for students to keep up, especially as we wrap up key concepts.
✅ Social-Emotional Development – School isn’t just about learning—it’s also about feeling connected. Attending regularly helps students maintain friendships, feel part of the school community, and end the year on a positive note.
✅ Building Strong Habits for the Future – The routines we reinforce now—showing up on time, being responsible, and staying committed—set the stage for lifelong success.
If you’re facing any challenges with attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support you in any way we can. Let’s make these last 12 weeks count!
POINT OF PRIDE: 4th Grade Poetry Jam
Our 4th graders had a fantastic time sharpening their poetry skills with visiting poet Andy Green! Through interactive workshops, they explored figurative language, rhythm, and expression—key components of the 4th-grade literacy standards. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm during Ms. Wassil’s Poetry Jam, where they showcased their original pieces with confidence and creativity. This experience not only reinforced their understanding of poetry’s structure and purpose but also encouraged them to find their own unique voices as writers. Seeing all of our 4th-grade classrooms engaged in this journey reminded us of the power of words and the joy of creative expression!
