Beanstack Update
Our Summer Reading Book Mobile party was a great success! Thanks to everyone at home who helped students log reading minutes over the summer!
Our monthly BEANSTACK challenges are up and running! Our September challenge is called FALL INTO READING. Students who log 300 or more reading minutes during September will earn a trip to the library prize cart. Keep reading, Cubs!
Log your reading minutes on Beanstack and earn prizes! Beanstack is even easier to access this year! What's New? All students and staff will now access Beanstack directly through the GCPS Portal then LaunchPad. There will be no need to remember a separate Beanstack username or password.
Literacy Tip of the Week
Turn Car Rides into Reading Time
Ask your child to read signs, menus, store names, or billboards while traveling. Everyday print helps children practice reading in meaningful ways.
Try this at home: Play “I Spy a Word” during your next car ride. Have your child read words they see on signs, vehicles, or buildings. Encourage them to sound out unfamiliar words and talk about what they mean.
Remember: Everyday reading experiences help children understand that reading is useful and important in daily life. The more they practice, the more confident they become!
Family Challenge: Count how many different signs or business names your family can read together during one trip. Can you reach 25 words by the end of the week?
Every word your child reads today is a step toward becoming a stronger, more confident reader!
