Principal's Message

Sunny Heights Families,

Schools in Warren Township are closed this Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Indianapolis has opportunities for our students and families to engage in learning even on a day off from school! I encourage you to look into what fun learning experiences your child may have as many area museums have special events and/or hours to honor Dr. King (see below). We will be back in school, teaching and learning on Tuesday, January 21st.

December Family of the Month

Each month, beginning this year, we are honoring one of our wonderful families. The families will be selected based on the following criteria: Parent or guardian must be a PTA member; students must have good attendance; the family must exhibit C.O.R.E. behavior at all times when in the building. The family of Daryelle Whitfield was awarded a $25.00 gift card. Congratulations to the December family of the month!

2019 Pesticide Notification Registry

The Indiana Pesticide Review Board has regulations that impact how school corporations may use pesticides on school grounds. MSD Warren Township follows these guidelines and we are inviting parents and guardians to join our Pesticide Notification Registry. By signing up for this registry, you will be notified via email at least 48 hours prior to a pesticide application at your child’s school, subject to certain exceptions. You will be invited to sign up for this notification each school year. You will need to sign up for this notification every school year.

WARREN'S HIGH ABILITY PROGRAM

Warren's High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of gifted and talented students. The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here. If you would like to complete a recommendation for the broad based planning committee to consider you can do so here 2020-2021 High Ability Parent Recommendation Form The parent recommendation form will be open until January 31, 2020.

Warren Township School District has a new app and website! The purpose of the app and website is to provide regular updates through the live feed, district news, and

district events sections as well as other important district information. The app includes easy access to the weekly breakfast and lunch menu, staff contacts, district documents, bullying and safety reporting form, and much much more. The Warren app can be downloaded at the Apple and Android App Store. Stay informed and download the app today. The district website is www.warren.k12.in.us.

School Weather Closings

The time of the year when school can be delayed or closed due to weather conditions is coming up. If there is a delay or closing, you will receive a call from our automated calling system to the phone number you provided to our school. Please be sure the office has your current phone number.

WINTER OUTDOOR RECESS

It is that time of the year when we need to make sure our children have appropriate clothing for recess. We will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees.
