Quincy High School Students and Families,

It was great to see so many students and families at our annual Roll Hats Weekend September 27-28. From the activity fair and volleyball game Friday to the all-day event at Veterans Stadium, the event was a resounding success, thanks to the incredible participation of our students and support from the entire QHS community. Thank you to the many students, teachers, coaches, and community volunteers that made this possible!

We look forward to seeing many of our future QHS students at our Haunted Hallways event tomorrow, October 23rd. This annual event by hosted by our student council is always a great event with an awesome turn out... you don't want to miss it!

As we continue our school year together, we want to again emphasize the importance of regular attendance. As quarter one comes to a close on November 1, it is an important time to check your students attendance records on Aspen. We encourage you to review your students attendance record and discuss the importance of consistent school attendance with them.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the harmful effects of bullying and promoting a school climate that is free from harassment and intimidation. If you or someone you know is experiencing bullying, please don't hesitate to reach out to a trusted adult, such as a teacher or counselor at QHS. We are here to support you and help you find the resources you need. Let's work together to create a positive and inclusive school environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

We hope families will please save the date for some upcoming QHS events that include Parent/Guardian conferences on November 14 and 19 and our Drama Club fall production November 15-17. For students, the Homecoming Dance is November 22 and the fall Rally is November 27. It is a great time of year to be a President!

Attendance Reminder and Chronic Absenteeism Attendance Reminder and Chronic Absenteeism

As the end of quarter one at QHS is quickly approaching on November 1st, we want to emphasize the crucial role that regular attendance plays in your student's academic success.

The Quincy School Committee Policy on attendance states that students who have more than six (6) absences in a term without a medical or professional note will automatically fail all their courses with a grade no higher than 62.

Your student’s up to date attendance report can be viewed on Aspen. Medical or Professional notes should be delivered to the QHS Health/Nurses Office in order to have the absences excused.

We encourage you to please review your students attendance record and discuss the importance of consistent school attendance with them.

World Language Highlight World Language Highlight

In the World Language Department, we have been focused on using our target languages in practical, communicative ways. From September 15th - October 15th, we spent time celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. Stay tuned for November when we will be starting sign-ups for the next round of State Seal of Biliteracy testing.

QHS Advisory Update QHS Advisory Update

During the 2024-2025 school year, QHS will continue to have an Advisory period in our schedule. On each Wednesday half day, students will return to their homerooms during the second period of the day for Advisory.

October Advisory focused on Study Skills and Time Management. Students learned and reviewed techniques to study effectively and efficiently, in order to help them succeed in school. Each grade focused on a different aspect of study skills - from studying for large tests to time management - and students were able to work with their homerooms to plan and prepare for the year ahead!

A huge thank you to the QHS Culture and Climate team for making this advisory period possible!

Our Girls Volleyball team is rolling along this season and have rallied around each other to make this season a memorable one. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store as they make their way into the MIAA Tournament. The girls defeated cross town rival NQ in dominant fashion on Tuesday, October 8th (25-23, 25-19, 25-17). Senior captain Destiny Francis had a night for the ages as she was jumping through the roof and spiking the ball through the floor. Check out the photos from the match via The Patriot Ledger here.

We would like to send a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Niosi on achieving a monumental milestone as her win over a tough league opponent Whitman-Hanson on October 2nd was her 300th career win!

Congratulations to Coach Hennessey and the QNQ Cross Country Girls team who have won the Patriot League Fisher Division title a dominating year from the girls!!

They went an impressive 4-0 on the season. We look forward to see what the girls can accomplish in the coming weeks. Please check out the fantastic photos from The Patriot Ledger from the meet vs. Plymouth South.

We are proud to share that on December 5, there will be a combined showcase of QHS/NQHS art and photography at Quincy High School. The work will be displayed and for sale from 5:00-7:00 in the Quincy High lobby-right before the Tis the Season concert at QHS.

We are incorporating the annual Boston Children's Hospital fundraiser by making this event a display/sale of student artwork and photography as well as raffle items from local business that tickets can be purchased for with all proceeds being donated to the hospital.

This should be a great evening highlighting the Art, Photo and Music programs of both high schools.
