Bellerive Bulletin October 3, 2024
BelleriveBulletinOctober 3, 2024

Dear Bellerive Families,

We’ve had an excellent start to the school year! I am thoroughly enjoying my role as the Assistant Principal at Bellerive and feel privileged to be part of such a wonderful community. The energy and enthusiasm in our classrooms have been remarkable, and I am incredibly proud of the effort and dedication our students demonstrate each day. I hope you are finding our social media posts helpful in offering a glimpse into the many great things happening across our classrooms.

As we move into the fall months, I want to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of regular school attendance. Earlier this week, I sent an email outlining your child’s current attendance record, and I will continue to provide updates periodically throughout the year. Consistent attendance is essential for both academic achievement and social-emotional growth, and we want to see our students thrive!

Our goal is for each student to maintain at least 95% attendance, which helps them stay engaged with learning and connected with their peers. We understand that illness and unforeseen circumstances arise. If you are experiencing any challenges related to your child’s attendance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Next week, you may receive a letter in the mail regarding your child’s attendance. It is standard practice across the district to send these form letters if a student’s attendance drops below 93% or 90%, so please be aware of this routine communication.

Let’s keep the momentum going, and thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,

Mr. Joe Butler

Assistant Principal

Help Needed with Car Drop-Off & Pick-Up Help Needed with Car Drop-Off & Pick-Up

No Left Turns, Please!

We kindly ask for your cooperation in keeping car drop-off and pick-up running smoothly while avoiding traffic back-ups on the street. To help with this, please do not make a left-hand turn into the car drop-off or pick-up lane.

  • At arrival, turning left cuts off other cars who have been waiting patiently and causes a traffic back-up on Rue de Fleur, holding up neighborhood traffic.
  • At dismissal, making a left-hand turn into the pick-up lane means you will miss the staff member responsible for entering your family number into the pick-up system. As a result, your child will not be lined up and ready for pick-up when you arrive.

If you drive to Bellerive from the north, please refer to the map below for alternative routes through the neighborhood that will allow you to make a right-hand turn into the drop-off and pick-up lane.

Guest Speaker for Parents about Cyberbullying Guest Speaker for Parents about Cyberbullying

Nationwide, cyberbullying and teen self harm/suicide are on the rise. The increased access that today's youth have to technology and social media opens the door to this behavior as both the victim and the cause. As parents, it is admittedly difficult to navigate this topic with your child(ren). To help you learn more about this topic and receive tips that can support you at home, the Parkway School District has established a parent event to address this topic. Tina Meier, of the Megan Meier Foundation, will be conducting a presentation at West Middle School on October 29th at 6:30pm. Mrs. Meier will share the the story of her daughter, Megan, along with the devastating effects of bullying, cyberbullying, and suicide. This powerful message will be followed by an audience Q&A that will allow the participants to seek advice and ask questions that could prove to be a powerful experience for all in attendance. For more information, please check out the attached flyer and, if interested in attending, please click here to kindly RSVP.
