Park Street Family,

I continue to wish you a Warm Welcome and a Happy New Year. This week, Marietta City Schools will begin the MAP assessment. In addition, some students will participate in the WIDA ACCESS assessment for ESOL.

MAP:

Students take the NWEA MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) assessment for various reasons, primarily to measure their academic progress. Also, to guide our instructional practices. MAP measures a student's individual growth in math, reading, and science over time (Fall, Winter, and Spring).

  • MAP does not impact grades, and students are not expected to study for it.
  • By providing personalized data on a student's current academic level and areas of strength or weakness, MAP assists our teachers in meeting your child's specific learning needs.
  • If you have questions about NWEA*MAP, don't hesitate to contact Assistant Principal Mr. Johnson.
  • ijohnson@marietta-city.k12.ga.us

ACCESS:

The WIDA ACCESS is a mandated assessment for all ESOL students to measure social and academic proficiency in English. A letter was sent home on Thursday, January 4, that provided information about this assessment. The testing window opens on January 10 and closes on March 1.

ACCESS does not impact grades, and students are not expected to study for it.

  • Kindergarteners are administered the assessment 1 on 1, which takes approximately 45 minutes per student.
  • Grades 1-5 are administered 4 assessments: Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing.
  • If you have any questions about ESOL or the WIDA ACCESS, please get in touch with Assistant Principal Mrs. Madden.
  • cmadden@marietta-city.k12.ga.us

Over the past 3 years, Park Street has and continues to see significant increases in academic achievement. Our collective success is due to our excellent teachers' hard work and parent support. On behalf of the entire Park Street Staff, Thank you for your continued support. Never hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

In service, your Proud Panther Principal,

Mr. Soto
