TVMS News
September 19, 2025
Hello TVMS families,
While we do not send printed progress reports home, Thursday, September 25 marks the middle of the quarter. This is a great time to check your child’s grades in Canvas and connect with their teachers or counselor if you have any questions or concerns.
We will also be making changes to our dismissal procedures to add more structure, as students have been playing around and roughhousing while waiting for buses. Starting Monday, we will no longer dismiss by grade level. Instead, we will call the first six buses that have arrived, then walkers and car riders, followed by the next set of buses. Please make sure your child is aware of this change and listens carefully for their bus number to be called.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us keep our school safe, structured, and focused on student success.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs. Denise Young
Principal

MCAP Score Reports
Students in grades 6-8 who participated in the Spring 2025 Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program (MCAP) will receive their MCAP score reports on Wednesday, September 24th during their 7th-period classes. Parents/guardians should expect their child to bring the report home that day.
The reports show the prior grade level's understanding in math, science and English language arts. These assessments are just one measure of your child's performance and provide you with insight into your child's level of proficiency. Federal accountability requires that students assess annually in grades 3-8 and once in high school.
Please visit HCPSS MCAP for more information.

Important: Update your Student/ Family Emergency Information Today!
This must be updated each school year
Parents/guardians must verify and/or update emergency information for each child every school year. This is completed online in Family File, which has several new updates including how and where to access. Full details on updating your Family File are available online.
One exciting new feature is that families now can submit a change of address via Family File, rather than completing a separate form and sending to their school.
Full directions and information for families on this new process can be found online.
2025-2006 School Supply List can be found here
The school supply list can also be found on the TVMS website:

In addition to the linked school supply list, students will need to bring a pair of headphones with a cord to plug into their Chromebooks. Students are not permitted to use AirPods and other wireless ear buds in an effort to eliminate cell phone use and distractions.
